Hi everyone,

I have a mule going to Cuba in two weeks and I'm working on my shopping list which includes 3 boxes of Montecristo 520 and, probably one box of monte 2.

I need two boxes of ten to round the 75 cigars the guy is bringing me back but I lack imagination. My budget is around 200 total for the 20 cigars.

What would be a good pick? What are your suggestions?

Thank for your input!

Cohiba 1966's and Upmann Royal Robustos

Excellent choices! Other possibilities are the Cohiba Piramide Extras, RA Superiores and Hoyo De Monterrey Epicure De Luxe.

RA Superiores and Boli Gold Medals (there was a lot kicking around recently that were 09s)

The BGMs were 55 CUC a box and the RAs were 57 CUC.

A great choice also as they are now discontinued. Always a good idea to get either LE's or RE's in Cuba as they tend have the bigger mark-up outside of Cuba. Discontinued cigars are also a good bet.

Two boxes of 1966s. They will just continue to go up in price and improve as time goes on.

What he said. Anybody know how much a box of 1966 run for in cuba?

Great suggestion on the Royal Robustos and the Boli Gold Medal. You guys think my mule will be able to find this in Varadero?

Ok, so if you guys had to pick between the RA Superiores, the Boli Gold Medal or the H. Upman Royal Robustos, what would be the choice?

Lots of stuff comes in 10! Where to start? :P

Given your budget. Perhaps. Partagas 898, Partagas Lusitanias, BHK's, Cohiba Piramides Extra, HU RR, RA Superiores, LGC Immensos, Boli GM, PSD4, Monte 520, Partagas Series C N3. Monte PE.

Again, you can't but 2 boxes of 1966 with 200 dollars. Altough It would be marvellous if it would be possible

oh I missed the 200 budget thing. Go with a box of Upmann Royal Robustos and a box of LGC Tainos. Might be under 200.

I picked up RR's and Superiores's when I was in Varadero last April.

Smoked half a box of RR's thus far and have been pleasantly surprised. That being said you can't go wrong with the GM's too.

Tough choice sir. Good luck!

At the beginning of January there were a good lot of RAs and some boxes of GMs at 63rd. Another option is to pick up some Alphonso customs. He had a lot of raw materials at hand.

Anyone knows the price for LGC Tainos?

Forget getting 20 and grab one box of Cohiba Piramide Extras, it's $211 so a little over your mark but so worth it.

Otherwise go with what others have said.

And good luck if you did try to find the 1966, I hit every store in Varadero and 2 factories in Havana, no luck.

COhiba PE's are overrated and overpriced IMO

If you can find a nice box of Boli GM's 2008 or prior to go along with an box of Upmann RR's you should be able to get them both under budget
