StefanJson Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 The Rafael Gonzales Perlas has now been available in Sweden, but I have not tried one yet. I'm now curious of your opinion about this little cigar. What do you think, is it C&C?
stargazer14 Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Schlo! You are on the C&C forum! I have not tied any yet but being under $100 for 25 I would consider it a C&C. From the photo that Quintero posted yesterday they look good!
gigabyte056 Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 It is cheap and very cheerful. There is a review in the forum about them, they taste great and at around 70 euro for 25 can indeed be considered cheap. Give them a go, I think you will not be disappointed.
Ryan Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I had another one at lunchtime today. Not the most complex cigar but very tasty. I've never had a bad one. Sweet coffee/ cocoa flavours.
StefanJson Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 Never mind....I'm an idiot...LOL Cheap and cheerful....My bad!!! Hehe!
StefanJson Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 Sounds good! I'll pick up a couple of these next time I pass the local dealer and try them.
Lotusguy Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I think they're alright. Probably my least favorite RG of them all (and I am a big fan of the Marca). Would pick up some aged Panetelas instead for the same or less money. 1
Bahnofstrasse Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Had another one of these last night from a Box I picked up about 6 months ago.The best one that I have had yet. A bit of sleepy time has done these a world of good. Roasted coffee and caramel flavors, great draw with voluminous plumes of smoke, white powder ash with a razor sharp burn. I did take my time with it and it rewarded in spades. Every bit as enjoyable as the Half Coronas that I have been partaking. RG is an under appreciated Brand by most Habanophiles. Definitely worth a try!
Bahnofstrasse Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I have been enjoying a Box of 09 CE's of late. Great smoke... As you say the PC's are fabulous, the Perla's are wonderful, and even the Panatella Extra's are not bad. Speaking of PC's worth a trying is the ERDM. Now hard to come by as they have been discontinued, but they are one of my fav's!
mazolaman Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 The Perlas are a good cigar, and great value too...one to look out for.
bstarrs Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I'd really like to try these, hopefully Prez and co get ahold of them soon. The PCs and Corona Extras are on my list to try as well.
frenchkiwi Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 RG Perlas vs Quintero Favoritos - 2 C&Cs popping up at the same time - which one wins for you?
Ryan Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 RG Perlas vs Quintero Favoritos - 2 C&Cs popping up at the same time - which one wins for you? I got both at the same time in Spain last July. The Perlas for me. Far more enjoyable when fresh. The favoritos I found quite bitter. Given some time to relax they may turn out to be decent. To be honest I think it will always be the Perlas though when deciding between the two.
mazolaman Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I got both at the same time in Spain last July. The Perlas for me. Far more enjoyable when fresh. The favoritos I found quite bitter. Given some time to relax they may turn out to be decent. To be honest I think it will always be the Perlas though when deciding between the two. The Perlas are the better cigar I think. But I smoked a Favoritos that I had rested for a few weeks the other day, and it was quite honeyed and floral, a good smoke. Both are great value.
mazolaman Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Good to know thanks, I'll dig out a Favorito today. I'd be interested to Know if you think it has improved....or whether there is a vast variability in the favoritos due to the short filler?
DandyStogie Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Had my first one the other day. It has been resting for only a month now. Ok smoke but not really impressed. Think I will give them a year to rest then try again.
Lotusguy Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Weakest in the RG Lineup by a mile, IMO. Mine from Sep '11 still taste harsh.
Wil Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Just smoked my first. Bland opening, but was good when it got going. Last third was very good. At the moment I would definitely reach for a HUHC or Partagas short before this. But it showed enough to think this might be a very good cigar with a bit of time.
Charltonc Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I really enjoyed the one I had. I have been enjoying some Rafael Gonzalzez lately. I had a fantastic Lonsdale form 2002 last night.
rigby Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 great little cigar... good bang for the buck. I have a 5by5 with a oct12 date, they are 'young and wild' but still good with toasted hardwood and spice wrapped up with a nice salty bitterness... just my 2cents...
Marker Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Had one from Sam yesterday. Good flavor but tastes a bit dirty. Not sure if age will improve that. Got soft in hand at the end and a little bitter, but I would smoke one again.
Troels Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Picked up a box in spain, and im very impressed. Very good for the price. Had a friend over the other day for a few cigars - he enjoyed it more than the Royal robusto! Dont quite agree on that, but it's good for sure
frenchkiwi Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 got some 5packs off czars. really strong flavour, loads of cedar some unusual coffee/sawdust a little bit of the RafGonz meatiness (from memory) - i'm enjoying. format is great, you probably don't want to draw too hard though. hmm. pity it's a drenching gale outside.
