What is the difference besides the location?

Well I have a box of '08 CoRo with factory code LSO (i'm assuming Partagas). The cigar is richer and less grassy than CoRo's I've had from El Laguito. Wrapper is also noticeably darker/redder. Perhaps that's just normal variation though...

What is the difference besides the location?

...and how can you tell which factory produced a particular box code? Was there a hard cutover date? Please excuse my ignorance on the issue.
