Jason55555 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I've recently come into a small sum of money (football winnings lol Keep it going Ravens!!!!) and was looking to get some nice “rare or LE” cigars. I've got a few cigars in mind don’t know which way to go so I’ll throw it out there. Budget – $400.00 Blow the budget on - Cohiba 1966 Thinking this cigar is discontinued so might be hot commodity later on... -Trini Robusto T Monte 520 H Upman royal Robusto Keeping in mind the budget and that I don’t mind getting various a box of 10-12’s ($150ish) so really I'm wrestling with either getting bunch of 10 count LE's or blowing it on one shot box eg. 1966. Any suggestions? Thanks all for the help, ideas, thoughts!
bassman Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Are these for smoking or "a hot commodity" for resale? Get a cab of BPCs & keep the change.
zappaFREAK Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Everyone is different but for me coming into a bit of cash is something I would spend on a htf Box. The 1966s are just fantastic! But it a lot of cash for a box of 10. On the other hand you could get 2 boxes of 25 for similar cash. Really depends on your situation. Mad money or stock supply that's your decision. Big help huh???
dangolf18 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 If you really want to treat yourself, get the 1966. You won't be sorry. However, they might not last that long they are THAT good. If you want to be frugal (if there even is such a thing when it comes to cigars lmao), buy 2 boxes of robustos (I'd recommend HDM No.2 and PSD4).
AlohaStyle Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I agree with Zappa. If it were me, I always consider football winnings as funny money and always buy big ticket items I normally might not want to drop the money on. If I were you, I'd buy the 1966's.
Troels Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 How about a selection of the best of the regular production? You would get diverse experiences and know where to put your money best next time lady luck smiles at you
Dbone Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Are these for smoking or "a hot commodity" for resale? Get a cab of BPCs & keep the change. Good advice, poor BPC cabs got axed. Get them while you can.
Diamondog Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Id get a box of '66 followed by 1 box 520 and 2 RR you'll be over on the latter but good buy none the less
Puros Y Vino Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 If you can find them. 1966. Or to stretch you dollars. Trini Rob T. 12 or 24. (smoked one Sunday, it was spectacular) Got my hands on as many boxes as I could. Montecristo 520. Excellent cigar, on par with the 1966 I'd say. Reasonably priced. Final thought. 50 cab of RASS.
Ghabanos Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 U can get a 10 yr old lgc mdo 2 and have change for singles of the 520 and or cohiba pyramids.
coug28 Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I do love me a good devils advocate...sooooo... Lets say u buy the 1966s as the majority here have suggested. Smoke one...and realize, man, these suck. Sure you can sell off the other 8-9 pretty easily depending on how long you wanna believe that "time" might make them better, when the reality is, EL cigars may just not be for you. From the sounds of your post though, you're more worried about resale than you are enjoying them yourself. If so, sure, the 1966 might be a fine choice. My .02.. I'd grab a box of 25 ct regular production that you' actually enjoy and a 10 ct of the Royal Robusto (as your "hot commodity" addition to your order).
