Hiroshiro Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Same Here 1: Sublimes - Glad I found more boxes 2:520s - have one box 3:GEs - No boxes
Orion21 Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 MGE have the 520's by quite margin. The MGE were brilliant young and went flat for an extended period of time. They have come back to life and are smoking exceedingly well. My 520's are now flat.
Hiroshiro Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 So Just Give them time? I might have to pick up a box to check it out
lexvero Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 1. 520 2. GE I haven't had the sublimes although I have wanted. I will make sure to grab a box at one of my favorite duty free shops when I get a chance. They're going for 350 USD a box.
Diamondog Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 520 Sub MGE not even close to these two IMO...
Hiroshiro Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 520 Sub MGE not even close to these two IMO... When is the last time you had a sublime?
jedipastor Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Only had one Sublime = awesome Had two 520s so far = very good, huge potential For me, the Grand Edmundo takes the cake. I think they are nearly a perfect cigar for me ... tons of flavor, complexity, and body. And i love the profile.
almudawi Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 The Sublimes are by far the better cigars. Their reputation is justifiable and they are (in my opinion) now better than the Cohiba sublimes (the Cohiba Sublimes are starting to lose some of the sweetness and spice due to age). The 520 is a bit rough on the edges for me and needs a bit more time to settle while the hype sounding the GE I don't get (went through 3 boxes so far and nothing to write home about but the generic LE profile) My 2 cents
Orion21 Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 ^^^^ The MGE were asleep for almost 2 years, so I am not surprised you smoked through 3 boxes you didn't care for. Those of us who stocked up experienced the same thing as you have. However, they have come alive in the last 6 months and are smoking amazingly well. They have hit a new level.
Diamondog Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I smoke an '08 sub every couple of months, stellar cigar no doubt, as for the '04 sub losing it status, I disagree easily....had one last Saturday and it was nothing short of sensational...

I have a box stashed. I'll revisit and report back. Don't get me wrong. The Cohiba Sublimes are still great cigars but I believe that they are sadly starting to slip. Without risking to get off topic this is applicable to the H.Upmann LE 05 too. In my experience both LEs from the aforementioned years are starting to lose some elements of their profile and charm. My 2 cents.

I have a box of these, went crazy on them when I first received them sometime in 2011. Stellar smoke back then, but I had one back in sept 13'. Still a great stick from what I recall..don't meant to turn the thread either. Just my .04, as there has already been .02... I have no idea why I added that, ha! Anyways, I said this a few weeks back, never had the sublimes.. MGE still my pick. I have 2 left. Anyone know where I can pick up a box of Monte sublimes shoot me a PM.. If not, well then that's that.
Maplepie Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Oi Dan. PM me. I've got a spare if you want Sent from my BlackBerry Q10 using Tapatalk for Android.

topdiesel Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 520 Sub MGE not even close to these two IMO... I agree. The MGE is one of the few cigars I keep going back to hoping they will improve. Oh well, maybe next year.
Hoepssa Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 520 Sublimes GE Considering the box date and aging process, gotta say 520 is so good now and keeps going better. It taste best among 3 before they are below 3 yrs old. Sublimes is already a legend, flawless and what is you want for all kinds of tobacco products. GE is still sleeping, not shine yet IMO
Orion21 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Smoked a GE and a 520 a few weeks ago on back-to-back nights. The 520 is an excellent cigar, but very different from the GE. The GE has evolved wonderfully and the one I smoked was ON. I find the 520 to be blended like a Montecristo cigar rolled to be an EL vs the GE being blended to be an EL cigar and slapped with a Monte band. There are hints of Monte in the GE, but not a whole lot. All of this being said you can't go wrong with either when good. I prefer the GE because the 520 is just so big I think it takes away from the cigar. If it was the same blend, but the size off the GE the 520 would be a classic.
AlBaron Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I would love to vote in this poll, but where can I get my hands on a box of Sublimes?
Laxman Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 1) Sublimes 2) GE 3) 520 Smoked quite a few boxes of Sublimes and love the cigar. Smooth and elegant. Personally I believe they may have seen there best days. Hope I am wrong but over the last two years they have not wowed me like they did in the past. GE I have had quite a few I didn't care for but over the last two years they have left me wanting more boxes and surprise me every time. These feel like they still have legs. The 520 for the first year and a half they were out I thought they could dethrone the Subs and GE. Then they seemed to go to sleep as they started to taste very muted no more chocolate milk. Smoked one last week and was pleasantly surprised. Left me thinking I shouldn't have dumped half my stash of them. Have to revisit in a few more months.
Habana Mike Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Missed out on the Sublimes when readily available though did and enjoy my first while in Oz when they first came out. Smoked a couple since and thought a pretty good smoke. Regarding GE and 520, really enjoyed both. That said I've backed up more on the 520 as they hit the mark for me most.
nick2021 Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Just bought a box of 520s about two weeks ago, maybe it's time to fire one up and compare against the MGE
