culebra Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 I have a 3 x 100 cigar desktops at home and another 50 cigar desktop at the office. I am out of room. I need some reassurance that I am not completely mad :-D
CIGARHead Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 » I need some reassurance that I am not completely mad :-D No, your not completely mad. I was on the same track as you...buying one desktop humidor after another- then I decided to get a nice cabinet humi built. It holds 250 singles and 35-40 boxes....So it will be at least a year before I have to get another one as opposed to every other month w/ the desktop humi's.
josie67 Posted May 12, 2005 Posted May 12, 2005 I have 4 50 count humidors and a 300 ct humidor built by my father. And of course they are ALL FULL. Can't get another one or else I will have to fill it up too.:-P
Mel Posted May 12, 2005 Posted May 12, 2005 You are all mad and so am I. My wife says I am out of control but I am unconcerned about her opinions on this matter. I make my own humidors and have four home built and three store bought. They hold, 25,30,150,200,250,300 and the big boy at 25 boxes(625+). I just completed inventory and have 1096 cigars on hand of 142 different vitolas/brands/year class. Rob is more financially secure than he used to be. Why stop at college, plan on grads school for the brats.
CIGARHead Posted May 12, 2005 Posted May 12, 2005 » You are all mad and so am I. My wife says I am out of control but I am » unconcerned about her opinions on this matter. I heard it from the wifey last night... "You just spent $225 that we didn't have; I could go shopping but no, I would rather buy groceries so we can eat, which we might not be able to do because you had to have another box of those damn cigars, blah, blah, blahhh!" Unfased, I lit a Mag46 and blew it in her face, told her that I have to fill up my cabinet humi soon, and told her to fix my dinner. Oh man, must have been day dreamin'.....I ran like a sceered little weasle back into my hole and waved the white flag.:crying:

kab55 Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 Your not mad, I've got 84 boxes and about 600 singles. I'm the one that's mad!:-P
The Prince Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 » Your not mad, I've got 84 boxes and about 600 singles. I'm the one that's » mad!:-P Ninety or so boxes.
AG Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 WOW! It sounds like we have some very large collections. I have a question, does anyone carry insurance on their collection?
kab55 Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 » WOW! It sounds like we have some very large collections. I have a » question, does anyone carry insurance on their collection? I believe it would be very difficult to insure Cuban cigars in the US. Loyds of London maybe. :-D
Ken Gargett Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 that touches a major raw nerve. had a problem with a humidor and lost three boxes - all cohihba: DC LE's, Pyramid LE's and a box of the special seleccion (30 mixed that they did a year or so ago). broke my heart. needless to say the scumbags at (and i know i am not supposed to name such entities but bugger the rules where this lot are concerned - they have) CGU insurance are not interested. i had several independent opinions that my policy definitely covered them before i claimed. we are now at the dispute stage. in my corner, i have a mate from law school who wrote one of the key legal texts on insurance law and a fishing buddy who is a chartered loss adjustor and has faced an almost identical problem before, with CGU. the opinions are that we will prevail but it may take time until they realise that they this will cost them a lot more than just my cigars - tho it will go to various authorities as penalties etc, and sadly not me. we have god on our side!
Guest crossbow Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 You are absolutely right sir!! When my wife saw how my humi's clutter up the basement. She asked me about a storage to contain all this. When I mentioned cabinet type furniture her face lit up (she loves interior deco stuff) But IMHO, after 13 (100 and 50 ct) Desktops playing tetris with each other and a bulging cooledor...I think it might be more than a furniture cab. » its not a collection untill you hit the 1000 habanos mark....the big guys » are at 3000 - 4000 and more... » » search some humi pics...the big avallos that hold 1000's of sticks and » walk in humi's guys have...i showed my wife the pics and now she leaves me » alone as she knows it could be alot worse...lol
Cohiba007 Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 I've got a 500 ct, a 250 ct, and a full aristocrat mini. And I'm just getting started. :-D
pj Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 I have three humidors, Rob and lisa have successfully filled two up, and My brother has also commenced taking over the third, with his own supply, I suspect with him involved, bigger locks may be required, Ken (G2) give those insurance companies hell... Now that I have over 150 cigars, i had Rob check the way I had the humidors set up. Dont listen to your friends and check with Rob, I had a few things the wrong way and he was even able to sniff out a cigar I must of half smoked and cut, (apparently you should leave these out) It must of been a big night, cause I dont remember even smoking the first half... Any thanks for the advice Rob, as I treat these cigars as a small investment. PJ
El Presidente Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 Folks...In relation to Ken Gargetts post....two words: CIGAR CZARS ie will the CGU insurance assessors please pay the man but make the cheque out to CIGAR CZARS :-D
habanohal Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 » Folks...In relation to Ken Gargetts post....two words: » » CIGAR CZARS » ie will the CGU insurance assessors please pay the man but make the cheque » ou t to CIGAR CZARS :-D I finally moved up from my small cabinet that held 300 singles and 25 boxes to a 6 foot cabinet that holds 5000.Right now I am up to 1200 Habanos and growing. Gets very costly for smokeing 4-6 a day and you have to replenish stock very often
dragon Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 You guys are all nuts......20 or 30 assorted cigars is plenty for any person at any given time.

cf2112 Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 I have a Delta 3000 from Bob and a couple 100+ count desktops packed to the gills, as soon as winter comes the domestics are going into a 150 qt cooler so my Habanos can rest comfortably. Luckily my wife loves me and my passions :-D
jjisaacson Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 i have a wine-ador, a 100 count desktop and a 50 count desktop... cigar count is at about 800 or so...
shrink Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Well over a thousand in boxes, and maybe another 150 singles. One wineador and two huge coolerdors. Just a piker!
TR Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 one travel humi...all the rest are at the office...about 2500 sticks.....
GoodTimes Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 I have a Aristocrat M Plus cabinet humidor that has about 200 singles and 5 boxes (looks empty inside) and my old desktop humidor, a Diamond Crown Chippendale, that is empty. I figure at the current rate of smoking to buying, I will have it full in about 5 years.
El Presidente Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 Some serious collectors amongst our group. The largest client I have is local and has a temperature controlled cigar and wine cellar 50 ft long and 14 ft wide. Holds mostly wine, about $2 Million dollars worth and close to 500 boxes of R&J Churchills which is all he smokes. He buys a new box each week to place on the bottom of the pile. That way he is always smoking 10 year old Churchills.
