Of the last year 2011-2012 which of these would u go in for. BRC, PSD4, HDMI Epi2 or JLS2. I like a fuller bodied smoke to begin with and the Bolivar and Partagas line are two of my favs. Tempted to try Epi2's but the handful I've smoked always left me wanting more. I've had one box of JLS2 from 05 and I loved em but my last one went out some time ago. Just looking for opinions on recent stuff as most of what I've smoked was from 09 and earlier.

RASS, although not in the sale are still available and reasonably priced. Plus i think they are genuinely one of the great robustos: overcooked bread and orangepeel flavours through and through.

BRC are great but for me arent full bodied, i would have psd4 over them any day.

HDM epi 2s over the last 2 years have just been sublime, for me they are the most consistent smoke ive ever experienced.

I too haven't had any Epi 2s that live up to the hype. They're not terrible by any means, but like what was said previously, they just leave me wanting more. Maybe need some more rest.

The first JLS2 I had was enjoyable yet since then they have been a bit average in the flavour department.

Haven't had a PSD4 or RASS that I have been disappointed in yet.

With any luck I'll be trying BRC for the first time tonight. Good luck finding what you like

I'd go BRC or Epi 2 myself. PSD4 are good, but I'm constantly underwhelmed by them. RASS are right up there too.

I also agree with the RASS I've had two boxes from 2011 are great. Blow through a box already

'10 and '11 JL2 have been great IMHO.....not had a '12 but the word I've heard is that they're just as good.Dark chocolate and citrus,I find ok.gif

I agree that the RASS is my current favorite robusto. I love the BRC as well, though Id' consider it the lightest of the Bolivars, it's creamier too and very yummy.

But I've been waiting for a sale on Epi #2s, so I'm going to grab those from this sale, and probably a box of PSD4s as well ... i've never purchased a full box of PSD4s because they've been so hit-or-miss for me personally, but the last couple I've had have been great.

current PSD4 are excellent and JLS2. RASS need some time to age in my opinion because they become classic cigars for me after seven years plus. I just went through some 04 RASS and they were excellent.

HU No.2 from 2011 and 2012 are so good. The best I've had. Best robusto flavorwise is the Trinidad Robusto T, but in terms of value I'd say RASS and RyJ SC.

Just cracked open a new box of Epi #2 last night (2012) and they were amazing. Perhaps they are great new and then much later, after the "sick" period?

How would you describe the flavor of these Epi 2's? From what I remember the ones I smoked were prob from 08-09 maybe, dont remember exactly, it was just a fiver in a sampler from FOH and they had a very floral taste it was unique. Of course then I had the one in the very first blind review done a couple years back and it was one of the strongest cigars I can remember, I guessed it was a PSD4. Im tempted to try these again just because they get so many good reviews, the Epi 2's that is.

IMHO the BRC may be a winner hands down for a young cigar.. I've smoked the others mentioned and mostly thought that they needed time, up to 2 yrs, before their true love appears. The Bolivar, although some say aren't as full flavoured, have a great earthy and creamy taste right out of the gate and DO improve as time goes by. Like I said, IMHO.

PSD4 followed by the Epi2. Not a fan of the Bolivar RC...just does not do it for me. JL2 is another downer for me. It's never lived up to the compliments I read others giving it.

The PSD4 can be inconsistent from time to time, but that could be due to its production numbers. Overall...generally an excellent cigar, especially with 2 years or more of age on them. Epi2 has been a more recent favorite. It is definitely ligher in body and flavor. More subtle, woody...not spicy.

If the question was, which of your choices were bad... not sure there would be one.

Personally, I would stay away from the PSD4 due to my own experience with consistency problems, but thats my own opinion derived from my own personal experience but I'll probably always have a box on hand. My first choice would be the Epi 2, the recent stuff is so smooth and creamy. Ready to smoke right out the box with nearly no age on them. I ordered 3 boxes from Rob a couple months back and cigars from all three boxes are the same.... just damn good smokes. But... that same statement could probably be repeated for nearly any cigars, as opinions are like ass holes, everyone has one. You really can't go wrong.... enjoy whatever you decide cigar.gif

i smoked them all before when i first started this hobby, now i smoke exclusively RASS as a regular robusto, nothing else. its reliable and its not mad price. what else do you want? CoRos? I rather have a box of 50 RASS for that moeny and I geneuinely don't find it any better. its just different.

the thing about RASS is that its very well balanced like a trusty driver, it wouldn't drive 300 yrd off the tee but it lands on the fairway everytime. to me, PSD4 is very good but they are very inconsistent, i have had good one from same box that also gave me unsmokeable sticks. EPI and JL sometimes i feel they are too flat and dull. BRC good and sweet and in fact not strong as a boli. somehow I take a RASS over it everytime u put two in front of me.

just me.....tho...
