Buying freeze

Well, I have officially been put on a buying freeze by my girlfriend. It's not easy when there are sales on cigars I want to try. Living in a frozen wonderland (or what is soon to be a frozen wonderland), that makes smoking seem like a bad idea for the next 4-5 months makes it a little easier though.

I buy all my cigars over the winter becuase i dont get a chance to smoke them. Gives me plenty of time to let them rest for a few months and settle down in the humidor. Then when i start to smoke regularly again ive no issues.

I would never let my woman put the brakes on any of my spending. Not my bag at all.

Well, I don't exactly have bad cigars in my humidor right now (at least I don't think they are). Siglo VI, PSC3, HdM Epi. 2, HdM Short Hoyo Pyramid, LGC Inmensos, Upmann Half Coronas, Upmann 48's, Trini Reyes, RASCC, and singles of a bunch of others. I also have a box of PL Encantos on the way. Every one of the boxes was bought in the last few months.

It's good to have the reminder, as I need to save some money for Vegas in a couple months, and for when my sister goes to study in Rome (hello, La Escepcion's!). But if this coup keeps continuing the way it is, i might not make it through the end of the week.

I'm fortunate enough to be able to enjoy my cigars year round. My wifey doesn't smoke with me very often outside of the warmer months (she likes to sit on the patio with me and have a cigar and a few drinks on nice Saturday afternoons), but she's never once in our 11 years of marriage complained about my cigar smoking indoors. No buying freezes here unless I run into a streak of MIA shipments.

I've tried this one. Her excuse is that she's buying things for OUR house. Like I lay awake at night worrying that we are in dire need of more candle holders and assorted knick knacks from f'ing Ikea.

My strategy is to never be specific on topics like this. My wife knows I love smoking and there is a cabinet in the house. She has no idea how much it costs, what goes in and out and how much I buy. She knows its my hobby so keeps her paws away.

I have my cigars shipped from Czar to my work address. Then I sneak them home in my brief case and place them in my coolidors in the basement. She has found my 4 coolidors down there....

I smoke them mostly when she is gone for meeting or karate practice with the boys.

My oldest boy is at NDSU and loves it. Next time you come to the Twin Cities for Gopher wrestling, drop me a line. Maybe we can grab a cigar together at a lounge.
