I know we are not even to the end of 2012 but I suspect for many of you it can't come fast enough!

it is always a pleasure to read the announcements of members who have recently married or welcomed children into this world during the year. Brings a smile to my face each time ok.gif

And yet others have struggled with work (finding, maintaining, running businesses), marriages, family and health. I know many have been battling since 2009/10 and are just tired of the daily, weekly, monthly, yearly grind to tread water let alone take a step forward.

I am on the phone and e-mail with many members during the course of the week and sometimes it is heartbreaking.

All this leads me to a great mate who came in last week. business struggling, marriage on the rocks, debts mounting. We had a cigar and a glass of wine. He was as genuinely effervescent as always and I said how it was a pleasure to be a mate of someone who lives his life seeing everything as "glass half full"

"Glass half Full?" he said looking at me like I was an idiot.

"Bugger that mate, I fill the glass to the top....drink down to halfway and fill it up again!!!!!" lol3.giflol3.giflol3.gif

Just wanted to share with those who are going through a tough spot. Heads up. You have mates here.

Cheers

El Pres.

Hear hear!! party.gif

I know that for myself and i shall borrow from the Queen here, but 2012 is not a year on which I shall look back with undiluted pleasure. It has turned out to be an Annus Horribilis.

I often think of the story about King Solomon and the golden ring which read... "this too shall pass". It has been a crappy year... but it shall pass.

I certainly am glad to be a part of this community and be growing a place into it as time and other factors permitt.

It's a great place we're all contributing too here, Full of fantastic genuine people.

Rob's kinda like the mermaid abrest on the front of our great cigar pirate ship sailing through the australian red sea of government condemnation. Dashing mermaid you make, Rob.

Great post Prez. I just became a granpa ! After enduring some nasty divorce crap for the past 4 years this little girl snapped me out of a funk. Tuned up and took inventory in the humi . Installed heat in the garage and set up chairs for me and a couple buds. Its time to get back into action.

Hear Hear Rob! Your way of making a living and Joie De Vivre (and Vine) is an inspiration. Actually, I try to emulate some of the stuff, save the liver damage. Being 33, I want to put some miles on the thing first.

Thanks for the consistantly positive note along the years mate ~

I've lost my finance job this year as part of their "restructuring efforts to lower costs and shore up the share price..." They even sat us down and told us how this positively impacts the bank, like we should be happy for them!!!

But I've just finished my debut novel and I can't wait to pitch it to some agents. Smoking a H Upmann Robusto (travel humi) to celebrate. Good luck will come eventually, no?

I was promoted to clinical director of substance abuse at the agency and I got engaged= more responsibilities. This is good and bad. I miss the days of working at a cigar store in Florida and coming home to my studio apartment and eating fried chicken in bed.

My own business and industry has been under great pressures the past few years. Lots of change because of the political landscape here in the US. I often wonder if my business can survive. But I wrote an article for a trade magazine with one quote that I firmly believe, "With great change comes great opportunity." If I'm smart, work hard (and smoke good cigars!) I can capitalize on a lot of new opportunities.

Thanks for the camaraderie, pres!

2012 has been a trying year for me to say the least. I've spent a lot of time and money in court, a place nobody ever likes going to. I truly believe cigars help me keep my sanity and appreciation for the good things in life.

There is always a lot to be grateful for. All in all, we've got it pretty good I'd say. Cheers everyone!

I got a great wife, a beautiful 4 year old daughter I'm mad about and a new baby on the way.

On top of that I have a great new CC habit developing nicely.

My new years resolution is to drink more fine cognacs.
