Puros Y Vino Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Just picked up the latest issue of NG. There's an excellent article on Cuba. No mention of cigars, but a great read. The NG website has an abbreviated sampler here.
Ryan Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Thanks for posting that, mine hasn't come in the post yet..
JohnnyC Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Thanks Frank, insightful article. I have been to Cuba a number of times and I am always amazed by the resilience of the Cuban people.
CanuckSARTech Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Very interesting. Thanks for sharing, Frank. The first trip that I took to Cuba years ago with my wife, we were there right as they were in the midst of their "high efficiency" upgrades to their electrical system - all new LG air conditioners, all the lightbulbs across the land starting to be replaced with the CFLs, new EnergyStar TVs and such, etc. All in the name of energy savings, and being environmentally friendly - in a country that allows outside countries to drill for oil RIGHT on the shoreline (environmentally dangerous, to say the least). An interesting paradox of an island. I totally agree with the one line in there - "...Cuba [both] facinates and makes people's heads hurt."
maverickdrinker Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 got a copy; saving it for the plane ride to Cuba....
