CigarAsh Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 For me, summer is about getting as much time on the golf course as I can. Got my handicap down to it's lowest point ever (where I now lose most of my bets). But winter is coming, so my hobby shift is back into my home workshop where I build furniture and other wooden things (jewelry boxes, etc.) I think I posted this once before but here's a few things I've done: http://lumberjocks.com/galleries/gashley Right now the wife has me repopulating the furniture my 21 year old son took to college last year. New bed frame, dresser, desk, etc. Now, if I can just get the exhaust fan in the workshop working on overdrive, I can spend the winter in the shop with my hobby and my cigars.
rsanz Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Static scale model of all sorts, when time is enough. I do a bit of scale modelling too. Not as much as I would like but time is pretty tight right now. Also interested in Scotch and used to do a spot of mountain biking but really haven't done much over the last couple of years (and my weight has climed dramatically as a result of that).

Some awesome stuff there! Have you ever made yourself a humi?
CigarAsh Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Some awesome stuff there! Have you ever made yourself a humi? Yeah, have built a number of desktop (box type) humidors. It's just a nice jewelry box with a spanish cedar lining. Have one sitting on my office credenza here at work even though I don't think I've ever smoked a cigar out of it! Also built a small cabinet style humidor that fits into some built in cabinetry in my bedroom. Probably holds 500 or so cigars. 3 drawers for singles and open space for boxes. 4th small drawer for the odds and ends of cigars - cutters, lighters, etc. Unfortunately it's full - or maybe that's a fortunate thing. I've now got a large tupperware humidor that sits in the basement (in my workshop actually) that has another 8 or 10 boxes in it so far. Waiting patiently for a few LFTH boxes to show up to help fill that one up. At some point I'll build a nice large display cabinet type humidor (something similar to the Aristocrats). Problem is, I wouldn't know where to put it - my house is pretty jammed with furniture. Maybe I should just stop buying cigars? Naah, maybe I just need a bigger house to put them in.
Frofro Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Collecting books on the Anglo-Norman era (only in English and French); collecting medieval and renaissance music; I haven't really the coin to be a cigar collector, but I try with Latakia-rich pipe tobaccos; stopping my son who is teething from eating furniture, toys, other children...

Oh thats awesome, wouldn't happen to have any pics of them would you? I would be very keen to see some! Also I'd say a bigger house if definitely the go!
Dbone Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Wow, I think we are all enthusiast here. My hobbies besides cigars are Photography, A/V, Gaming (online and console), and working in the yard. There are more interests but these take up a majority of my fee time. Here's a cool video for the OP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qr4lvni85MY
Justmi Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Climbing, particularly bouldering, and creative writing. Just about to finish my debut novel!

When we get into something, we go all out. For me, it's tools and cigars and sports. I've never understood people who don't get passionate about some of the things in their lives.
Strada Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I didnt know you collected vinyls bro! Leynna's family used to own a record store, they have a TON of stuff leftover... Really now............ ? They are trying to part with it?
Strada Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Dunno. I even have about 2 dozen or so older records. I'll ask them if youd like though. Shoot me a message on facebook to remind me in a couple days if youd like. You know values and the like for some that may be rare or should I do the research first? Yeah I know my stuff, I am not walking price guide anymore but I have made my share of money with records

Here's a cool video for the OP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qr4lvni85MY Awesome jet/vid, some people spend some big bucks on these things, and get them as realistic as possible, and man they do a great job. I would love to fly bigger scale planes and jets but the turbines alone cost a mini fortune.

It's something I would love to do but im just not that crash hot at it. I do however make a lot of things out of kerbside cleanup junk though like a bar and tables for in the bar etc.
maverickdrinker Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Just started to get back into buying Air Jordans again. Must be that my 40th birthday is next month and I need to feel young again. LOL Any sneaker people here?

Now have room for more!

Even my "nice and fancy" dressy leather shoes, aside from work stuff, are these brands. LOL.

hardrock86 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Reptiles. Many years of buying from Europe and selling in America thus 1) allowing me to have my entire collection for no cost and 2) paying for my travelling. Now that I am going back for second degree in school dont have the time unfortunately to do this anymore.

ptrthgr8 Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 I swear there was another thread for this but i can't seem to find it so i'll rebirth this one... While bored stupid at work i've been looking into what's going on the remote control car racing world. SO looking at my new nitro offroad car, and my new F1 Car I used to be hard-core into the RC car world. Back in high school/college I was doing a lot of the 1/12th scale indoor electrics - the carpet burners. Those things were fast and quick. Moved into 1/10th scale parking lot series a few years later when I didn't have as much time for serious competition again and still had lots of fun. I only had one nitro offroader, but had a dozen other electrics for on and off road. Even had one of those impressive Tamiya King Tiger tanks. Man... I wish I still had all that gear. Thousand of dollar worth of cars, parts, motors, tools, radios, etc. all down the drain when my mom's house got robbed and she was moving to another house 10 years ago. I knew I should have taken that stuff with me when I moved to North Dakota. Oh well. I have recently really been getting the itch to get back into the RC world. I would love to get back into road racing (I was also eyeballing an F1 chassis of some sort), but in these parts there aren't any proper tracks/course for that sort of thing. Plenty of open land to run around on and our backyard is plenty big, so I may just go with another offroader of some sort. Cheers, ~ Greg ~
