perfectform Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 With a bare minimum of 3 years of age, to my palate they rival any cigar in the world.
Daniyal Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Not worth that price tag the only one I like is the Perfection X No.4 and wouldn't pay north of $10 for it, at $4-$5 yes but anything more is a rip off.
Marker Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Had an Opus XxX power ranger a couple nights ago. It was my second opus I have ever had. 500 times better than my first one. The first one I had was a 54ish x 6.5 inch monster that was very bland. This power ranger was a little sweet but a wonderful spice in mouth. I would not consider it strong, but I also smoke a fair amount of NC cigars. Nicotine has never really affected me. Wonderful cigar that makes me want to try more. I do like Anejo as well but they are more complimentary to Opus, not a competitor.
finecigar Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 No. I have some but I bought them at a local shop when there was a sale of only $9-10/stick. But never pay the $20-$80 for them!!
jedipastor Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 The Opus X is an awesome blend, with an even awesome-er wrapper. At retail price, I find them to be a bargain. At the hyper-inflated prices you sometimes see ($20-$40) ... well, why would you pay $30 when you can pay $12? If you want a Cuban profile to compare it to, I'd say RA because of the rich fruitiness, but they're really not similar. Fuentes need to be treated like Cubans, though, in that they really need some age to show their true brilliance. An Opus X needs a year minimum, 3 is much better. Whenever I hear people say they tried an Opus and didn't think much of it, it's almost always because they smoked it too young. Like smoking most CCs fresh--even if it's not harsh or anything, the flavor just isn't there yet. Find a 5-year-old Opus X and smell the wrapper ... it smells like a peppery cinnamon raisin bread. Tastes like it too
geneticdrifter Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 I've yet to smoke an aged Opus but I've smoked a couple Lost City's out of the box and they were GREAT. Expensive, but phenomenal quality and depth of flavor. The only NC I have smoked with similar depth to a CC.
fokker4me Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 One of my go to smokes was the opus x petit lancero. I was paying around $ 9.00 a stick. At that price from the fuente it is a great smoke. Always go for the smaller ring guage. Also if you have the chance try the Anjeo Shark. Thats is a great full body and full flavor smoke. I have 3 boxes anyone looking to trade singels e mail me.

I don't know whether it's true or not, but it also seems like a lot more OpusX are produced each year than Anejos. I generally have an easier time locating the former than the latter.
Charltonc Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 If you want a better dominican puro go for the Litto Gomez. It is pure cinna-bun meets spice. I like the Americano( corona gorda) and lancero, and better priced. If you ever need Opus X at decent price contact me I work at a cigar store in the states.
