cuban music aside, the concept of me actually buying "new music" (as in, music not from any of the greats, new, live, revamped or whatever) is akin to not just a trip on the road to damascus but actually camping out there for a long while, as rob can no doubt attest to given what gets played when he is here, but i gave these guys a try.

in truth, only because i read that springsteen had asked to play with them (a bit like bradman turning up to cricket practice and asking for a net) and then i heard people comparing their style to that of bruce.

and how good are they! loving them. a bit like a combo of bruce, tom petty and the very best of U2. there will be new background music to our vids!!

Have you tried The Arcade Fire?

Also very Brucey at times.

The Neon Bilble and The Suburbs are ones I'd recommend.

BTW, quite like the Gaslight Anthem myself...

You're right once again there, KG. Gaslight is a band that flies under the radar a lot of the time and their newest album is really quite good.

For a real treat, have a listen to Bruce et al live at Hyde park from a couple of years ago. Gaslight comes on and does a mini set in the middle of the show and totally nails it. Enjoy!

My uncle was the Gaslight Anthem's producer on 59 Sound and American Sound.  He has just this past few months collaborated with Brian Fallon on his new album, the new single is incredible.  Such soul and passion.

Back in college their sound guy was one of our night editors at the newspaper.  Glad that a little bit of the Dirty Jerz has made its way to OZ
