DrunkenMonkey Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I agree that Paco de Lucia is among the greatest guitarists I've ever heard, but he's also the best-known flamenco guitarist in the world. Very 'sung'. But wow, just full of fire.
phoenix Posted August 3, 2012 Author Posted August 3, 2012 Lisa loves Joe Walsh Does that get me more of your amazing JaBluM?
Warwick5 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Was it this joint? It was. Thanks for that, I've been racking my brain all night trying to remember the name of that pub. Brings back great memories!
Paneotto Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Nick Drake. His playing is beautiful and intricate. RIP.
Warren Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Tommy Emmanuel is perhaps one of the best guitarists I've ever heard. The first time I saw him live though was a funny experience. It was some time in the late seventies I think. I had gone out on a pub crawl with a couple of mates and it was well into the evening or at least my blood alcohol level thought it was. We walked into one of the pubs and these two guys were playing a set. We sat down right in front of the stage only a few feet away and just kept drinking. The guys on stage were Tommy and his brother Phil. Tommy wasn't famous yet but there was no denying that he could play even back then.
canadianbeaver Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Seeing a musician before he became world famous, basically in the inspiration time of his career, must have been magical. Can you imagine going to a venue and seeing Elton John sit down at a piano and singing "Burn down the Mission".
phoenix Posted August 3, 2012 Author Posted August 3, 2012 Reb Beach. Killer chops. Unfortunately he got lost in the 'Winger' file.
phoenix Posted August 3, 2012 Author Posted August 3, 2012 And let's not forget to give Nuno Bettencourt his due
phoenix Posted August 3, 2012 Author Posted August 3, 2012 Guthrie Govan makes me wonder why I even bother...
phoenix Posted August 3, 2012 Author Posted August 3, 2012 Alvin Lee/Ten Years After. Unsung guitar hero AND one of the greatest LIVE albums of all time. Dig it.
phoenix Posted August 3, 2012 Author Posted August 3, 2012 OK. For all you Albert King fans, here's Mick Taylor with a little Laundromat Blues! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThrexLHCDlw&feature=related
phoenix Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 For all you Jimi and SRV fans, here's another clip of Audley Freed (w/ Cry Of Love)!
bassman Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Seeing a musician before he became world famous, basically in the inspiration time of his career, must have been magical. Can you imagine going to a venue and seeing Elton John sit down at a piano and singing "Burn down the Mission". How about seeing Pink Floyd at Philly's Electric Factory in 1968? Must have been at least 30 people there!
