Puros Y Vino Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 One of the things I was naturally blessed with, besides dashing good lucks, was some artistic ability. As a kid I'd draw, paint, sculpt, etc. In my 20's i discovered IT and made a career out of it and kinda forgot about art. Through the next decade or so I did the odd sketch or watercolor but never really gained momentum. This summer I decided to change that. I signed up for a gallery show. That gave me a deadline and the incentive to create something! This Thursday I deliver my two canvases to the gallery. They are below. Be kind. It's been a while. A bit of a surreal/abstract work. Did this one right on the canvas, no presketch, just powered through it. This one might seem familiar.
MatthewB Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Thats really good work Best of luck with tomorrow.
cottierm Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Well done Frank! Another of your hidden talents. Best, Michel
Scdalak Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Very Nice Frank, was it hard painting inbetween the lines and matching up the numbers on the canvas with its coresponding color?
Strada Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Good job Frank, I like the first piece. Your signature also. very Tony Montana esque!
PigFish Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I see the top one as George Washington. His face is in the left brain and the cherry, and the brainstem tree. The eye, well that is seeing the truth! Good efforts mate. Cheers. -Piggy
Puros Y Vino Posted July 25, 2012 Author Posted July 25, 2012 How much? They'll be going for $250 each at the gallery. We'll see if I get any takers.
IcedCanuck Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Nice Art Frank, looks good bro and I usually couldn't give a rat's posterior about art!

I'm pleased you found something in the painting that "spoke" to you. Cheers, Frank
chr0nic Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Great stuff, mate Love seeing people 'create' things... it's inspiring. Good work!
Puros Y Vino Posted July 27, 2012 Author Posted July 27, 2012 Thanks for all the kid words folks. Here's one more painting. I'm donating this one to the herf. It's a basic panel painting, illustrating the growing, harvesting, making and eventual enjoyment of a cigar. Set to a rich brown tobacco background and then adorned with cigar bands that were collected at previous herfs.
