Grahamsant
I was a cigar smoker before a smoker and so had known that I wasn't supposed to inhale and to this day still don't as a general rule of thumb. However, as I also smoke cigarettes now, I will admit that it is extremely difficult to not follow the normal habitual breath in after taking a puff. A friend only smokes these tiny cigars which are cigarette in size and come in a tin (can't remember the name) but he fully inhales those. I have had one or two and have inhaled but it is harsh as hell after having a few!!!
Wallbright
I tried inhaling once. Turned blue in the face almost and couldn't stop coughing haha. Since then I have chosen not to inhale. The closest I come now is retrohaling which is different as you all know.
sengjc
Never ever inhale.
Cigar Surgeon
http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJM199906103402301 Inhaling cigars is really, really, really bad for you.
DWC
From the article you linked: "There appeared to be a synergistic relation between cigar smoking and alcohol consumption with respect to the risk of oropharyngeal cancers and cancers of the upper aerodigestive tract." Well, if I'm going to smoke cigars, at least I stand a better chance by not drinking. Another good reason I gave up drinking years ago. Dbone
I do not inhale, but my brother does. Every cigar every puff he smokes it like a cigarette.
NJP
Try something. When your cruising through a cigar, stop put your hand over your closed mouth and lung push against your hand. (Easiest way to describe it) then remove your hand and blow out.
dangolf18
Do not inhale cigar smoke. The only time I've inhaled (a little bit) is on a light bodied cigar like an El Rey del mundo Demi Tasse. Once on a Siglo I. I do however retrohale on every cigar I smoke though.
Firebender
Quit smoking cigarette few years ago. I never inhale cigar smoke. Smoke cigarettes when I am with friends sometimes, and often finds myself smoking cigarette like cigar; don't inhale & retrohale and puff out the smoke from mouth. Ah also puff once a minute.. sengjc
I don't inhale cigar smoke (well, not intentionally anyway) but I do inhale cigarette smoke. That said, I plan to quit the cigarettes this year and just continue with the cigars. Quite a few of my friends have already done it so I don't see why I can't either. None of us inhale cigar smoke, by the way. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Fosgate
I read somewhere the temp of cigar smoke is much hotter than cigs and can damage the lungs quickly therefor one should never inhale cigars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Iron1
Like others have said dont inhale intentionally but retrohale I do all the time.
Clynch
I couldn't imagine inhaling an entire cigar. That is so much nicotine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

PapaDisco
My chain-cigarette-smoking Viet friends inhale on every puff whenever I offer them a cuban I keep suggesting otherwise, but they are some tough hombres. Personally, I love smoking a cigar in a closed room (except for trying to get my clothes clean afterwards!). The scent of a burning cigar gently smoldering in the ashtray is the finest incense to me. If I had to choose between sucking on a cigar, and letting it burn on its own in the ashtray (assuming it wouldn't go out of course), I'd choose the latter. Interestingly, to me at least, the scents/flavors in the 'second hand smoke' of a burning cigar are quite different from the scents/flavors that I get when I retrohale. Not sure why that is. FalseCast
Negative on the inhaling. Accidentally inhaling a little bit of smoke is a quick way for me to ruin a good smoking session.
Cisco
I recently offered my brother in-law a Partagas mille fleurs while we were on a big family camping trip. I knew he used to smoke cigars but had not had one in a while. Once given to him, he promptly sniffed the cigar, lit it, and proceeded to take a big inhale of it. I was immediately shocked. If it were me, I'd be coughing up my lungs. This guy is an ex military type and is very fit so I was surprised to see him inhale. I told him that most do not inhale their cigars but he said he likes the taste of Cuban tobacco...no sh$t! A week later I again offered him a Partagas Short while watching the World Cup games. He gladly accepted and while lighting it up , proceeded to tell me that he could not smoke a cigar everyday like I do, as he was still tasting the one he had a week earlier.... rtrimbath
I smoked cigarettes for 15 years and then quit. Because of quitting cigarettes, I try not to inhale my cigar smoke. I find I enjoy cigar smoking more knowing that I'm causing less harm to my lungs. I have inhaled on rare occasions though.
...
I honestly would have never thought it was possible to inhale cigar smoke on a regular basis. I enjoy the smell of smoke off the foot and retrohale a bit but that's about it. To each his own, obviously...
sw15825
I love lighting a cigar and smelling the aroma of smoke for a minute before I even start but never directly inhale the smoke from the cigar. Only what remains in the air as the aromas. And even too much of that is not pleasant to me. Fairly well ventilated area if not I feel like crap the next day. So no I dont get why someone would directly inhale cigar smoke. Would seem to ruin the experience in alot of ways.

Mahstah
I smoked cigarettes for a dozen years or so before I quit them, and I still can't bring myself to inhale a cigar (even when I was smoking cigs never inhaled)
Habana Mike
I quit smoking cigarettes about 17 years ago after a 1-2 pack a day habit for years. Wife still has a ciggie on occasion and sometimes I'll light one for her. When I do I notice two things. I don't inhale and it feels like a frigging toothpick! topdiesel
When I smoked cigarettes over a decade ago, I would inhale my cigars as well. It didn't really bother me on a good cigar as my lungs were very used to smoke. Most folks who inhale cigars take a smaller drag (less intense smoke) than those who don't inhale. Now that I am not a cigarette smoker I prefer not to inhale. Whatever floats your boat.
