Not sure what to say about that video. I almost threw up a little in my mouth, and not from the inhaling.

Must have been the gloves, or the piercing with the 'snarl'. Or the pure embarrassment that someone might see this

and think thats what cigars smokers look like.

Give the man a cigar! This is one of the ultimate techniques. Often overlooked but far more intense than almost any other draw technique. Wilkey

Oooooh, close! Personal preference is the first rule of smoking cigars!!

When I'm drawing on a cigar, I occasionally like to tip the cigar downwards.... and inhale a little bit of the smoke coming off of the foot. I find the aromas to be much more enhanced by the burning

I do this as well. I also exhale through the nose on nearly every draw. I started doing that a while back and it really enhances the smoke.

The best way for me to enjoy the flavor of a cigar is to puff and slowly blow out most of the smoke through my mouth and the remainder through my nose (sometimes at the same time). Hey I can taste the flavors better that way.

I sometimes do something similar :

I wave my hand over the smoke coming off the foot while the cigar is in my other hand, as you would do to smell the aroma of something cooking in a pot or skillet. In my view, this accomplishes two things :

1 - since the tobacco is burning by itself, the aroma isn't influenced by the speed or duration of your draw

2 - the aroma is only perceived by the olfactory system and not a mix of gustative and olfactory

This gives me another perspective of the cigar I'm smoking.

I also retrohale pretty often, be it either my entire draw or just the last 25% of smoke left after pushing out the first 75% of it by the mouth. I tend to retrohale my entire draw after my first 3 or 4 draws at the start of a cigar and I do it again when I detect that the flavor profile is evolving/changing and/or at the beginning, middle and end of a cigar.

I have inhaled the smoke a few times, but not intentionally. While being busy doing something else and nowhere to put the cigar down, I have to hold the cigar in my mouth longer than I want to and have to breathe at some point...not a pleasant experience. Makes me cough a lot and turns me off the cigar. I wait a minute or two and then I'm good to go.

well, I am new to cigars you may say. However it is interesting to realize that I do the same things as some of you experienced guys, absolutely naturally. For example smelling (I would not call it inhaling) smoke out of foot of cigar. Actually, some cigars I like to hold close to my face between puffs for that very reason. Not all but definitely I did that with HDM Epicure No.1 and San Cristobal El Principe.

As for deliberate inhaling? I don't thing so. I accidentally inhaled tiny amounts maybe couple of times and that told me to definitely keep smoke away from lungs. But there are cigars out there am sure which could be enjoyed inhaled.

I hope retrohaling is what you're talking about!!! If not - what are you trying to die???

Depends on the cigar, the heavy stuff I don't inhale. Some of the lighter stuff, I tend to inhale, not because I want to, it just happens. I do enjoy french inhaling though, it does add a little bit to the smoke.

So I guess I would have to vote yes here.

I love taking a wiff of the tip of the Cigar as it burns naturally then Taking a a good taste out of it but never inhale. I've never smoked a cigarette so it doesn't come naturally plus i don't want anything in my lungs

As an ex cigarette smoker the hardest part of quitting was letting go of he inhaling sensation especially after a good heavy meal and other activities. I have replaced that 'sensation' craving with retrohaling cigars. I'll be damned if I go back to inhaling because if I do, I might as well go back to smoking cigarettes so in short I dont inhale cigars and would rather not. Smelling the aroma however off the foot through my nose once in a while is pretty interesting.

I concur with the sentiments of ex-cigarette smokers. I smoked them for some time as a bad habit in my (younger) youth and believe that the sensation of inhalation is one that cannot be replaced but most be grown out from. Having said that, I do enjoy smelling the aromas of a foot through the nose. However I can't recall making conscious efforts to do so as described above by a few. I'm highly anticipating this combined sensory technique as soon as I can afford to buy a few sticks of my own.

I've accidentally let a little down the trachea and henceforth hope to avoid that mistake indefinitely.

I used to smoke cigarette as well. I used to smoke a cigar back then like a cigarette. Lungs always felt like I scrubbed them with a Brillo pad the next day. Quit smoking for 5yrs completely before I picked up a cigar again. Actually read somewhere that the temperature of the smoke inhaled from a cigar is much higher than a cigarette and can easily damage the lungs just from the heat. I don't inhale in fear primarily of becoming addicted to the nicotine again and becoming a slave to cigars as I was with cigs. I smoke a cigar at my conscious choosing rather than submitting to the feel of no control if I want it or not.

When I first smoked a cigar (I was a cigarette smoker at the time) I didn't know you weren't meant to inhale, and neither did the people I was smoking with, so I obviously inhaled and it was genuinely one of the worst experiences in my life, I thought my lungs were going to explode!

I thought not inhaling was universally recognised as the first rule of smoking cigars!

This is as relevant as saying "inhaling is recognised as the first rule of cigarettes smoking"…

There is no rule!

I'm aware there is no rule, I was just trying to make a humorous point that most people don't inhale cigar smoke
