As you are all aware Ayala is our go to man when we need to fix something around the office. He can fix anything with only two tools, he calls them tools the rest of us call them an Occy Strap and Duct Tape. Ayala has fixed many an item around the office which soon requires myself or a real tradesman to fix properly after Ayala has finished with it.

So while I was in Perth I ran across this book and could help but laugh. The complete book of things to make out of Duct Tape, Ayala bought it straight away and it now sits in his Pool Room he thinks its marvelous. :thumbsdwn:

Fascinating. I love it!

I was in the tape and adhesives business for a few years with Tyco Adhesives and other companies and was involved in the design and manufacture of duct tapes, among other types. I even have two patents in the industry. :) Very useful stuff and oy, the stories I could tell about the making of this stuff.

I will give you guys two tips.

1. The best duct tape you can buy in the U.S. is Gorilla brand Gorilla Tape. This is how the stuff was made decades ago. Only offshore now can you readily find a range of good tape.

2. The only thing special about "nuclear grade" duct tapes is that they're low in halogens using special ingredients. They have no special performance characteristics so don't pay $75 a roll for this unless you're patching a nuclear missile sub.

After 25 years of camping I have realized I need but 5 "tools"

1. Duct Tape

2. Octopus Straps

3. Hammer

4. Shifting Spanner

5. Leatherman ( the one with bottle and wine opener)

I have used Duct tape for pretty much patching everything from tents, canoes and cars. Have a stick, spit the Duct Tape in 2 and you can make rope. You can make fish traps, and on those occasions you forget your fishing shoes....just tape your feet!!!!

Ever tried using duct tape to fix a cigar? ;)

You only really ever need two tools.

Duct tape and WD-40

Is it moving and it shouldn't be? Use Duct tape

Is it stationary and it shouldn't be? Use WD-40

- OR -

I actually knew a bloke who was into vintage motorcycles. His toolkit consisted of a mobile (cell) and a credit card - there's nothing you can't fix with those two.

Cheers!

I just bought this for my niece's birthday gift. It's a kit of duct tape with prints on the outside.
