krs Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 This has been a question I have been wanting to ask for a while. how long are tobacco beetle eggs active? Is it still possible that they could hatch from a vintage cigar? even 13 or so years? I have been freezing all my cigars as they come in because I have a cabinet humidor without temp controlled. At what age would it be safe to say the eggs aren't a risk of hatching? Thanks guys!
dvickery Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 whole problem is...if they are older but your vendor stored them next to a box that has an active beetle infestation...doesnt matter how long they have been without beetles...they will have them now. derrek

But assuming no live beetle has entered during that time (been kept at proper conditions) what's the risk of one hatching from a leaf in a vintage cigar? even at 13 years? whole problem is...if they are older but your vendor stored them next to a box that has an active beetle infestation...doesnt matter how long they have been without beetles...they will have them now. derrek
