kiwiman911 Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I have some friends that are coming over and they will be leaving from Frankfurt airport. Does anybody have an idea about duty free selection, and what should I ask them to bring me from Germany...any RE that are worth it??? thanks for all the info you can give me, I can use all the help I can get
canadianbeaver Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Ask them to look for the limited edition bottle of Jim Beam 1795 Bourbon. It is only available at the store before you enter into security. It is $175 (approx). This is the only place in the world you can get it and it is gorgeous. And with it you get a Jim Beam black nylon satchel for your computer, which I use to bring cigars when I meet up with the FOH guys!
canadianbeaver Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Probably... but not as sexy as this one I think. It says on the site "only available at Frankfurt Duty Free" so Matthew brought one home about 2 weeks ago. http://gearpatrol.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Jim-Beam-1975-Gear-Patrol.jpg
almudawi Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Last time I've been there, they were limited to youngish regular productions. Mainly fast moving marcas. I recall seeing cohibas, Montecristo, Partagas, H. upmann and HdM
Daidemo Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Ask them to bring some Regional Editions – they are great because people from 5th Avenue know their business.

The best ( but all belong to the same company, Gebr. Heinemann )is located in the B Area of Terminal 1 across from gates B-26 / 28. If the manager, Mrs Holzschuh happens to be on duty, you have a very knowledgeable person to assist you as well. Selection is quite good with standard Cubans like Partagas P-2 or D # 4, RyJ, Cohiba etc. and also NC's like Davidoff. The cigars are well maintained, plus you can ask for a (free) special cigar plastic bag that will zip close and maintain the boxes in better condition than the regular bag, I have used those bags on my travels to Cuba, quite handy. Prices are OK, you save about 30% from the German shop price. Fuzz Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Looks the same as this.. http://danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_383636/jim-beam-1795-bourbonMy link They look similar... but anyway, enjoy Sorry for the mini thread-jack Marty. It was initially launched in Heinemann's, then Budapest Airport duty free, now DM in Oz has it. It is a limited run of only 200 bottles.

Lotusguy Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Never saw any REs at the Frankfurt Duty Free and I travel through there a few times a year If your stopover is long enough, take the bullet train to Cologne and go to the LCDH there where you will find EVERYTHING!
Daidemo Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 + 1 regarding LCDH in Cologne. Peter and Andeas are great guys but they are not well stocked with RE most of the time.

Just back from a half day smoking at the Cologne Casa with Peter "Pitter" Heinrichs today - you will be happy to see all the (German) ER's available there. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Might have to stop by in September then Good to hear that they are now better stocked with RE – many times I had to shop at Christoph’s in Hamburg. Waiting for some pics. Pay attention to PL Lonsdales as they are very tight rolled (but one of the best blends of RE in many years).
