CanadianKodiak Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 I usually don't like smoking wee lil cigarillos, puritos, minis or anything much smaller than a PC. But I don't always have the time to smoke a fatty either so I decided to try a box of Punch Margaritas from 2002. Wow. What a great little cigar. I was shocked at the wonderful flavours coming from this little puppy. Super creamy chocolate throughout the whole thing with hints of leather during the first third. I hate to admit it but that little bastard was an absolute pleasure. And the burn was razor sharp all the way down. Shockingly good little smoke. Just saying....
Lotusguy Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Haven't had any that old, but my 2008s are smoking great! Lovely little sticks. How do you like the ERDM Demi Tasse and the RyJ Petit Julietas? Both worth a try IMO. I didn't care much for HDM Du Maire.
Smallclub Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Even better was the Ramon Allones Ramonitas – same size, discontinued 2002.
rfenst Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Little cigars don't get a fair shake. If you smokes one like a like a larger ring cigar- to get a mouthful of smoke- all you will get will be will be hot, harsh and taste and flavorless. On the other hand, if one "sips" VERRY slowly, perhaps slower than would even smoke a Lanceros, one can be absolutely amazed! Take the Monte Joyita, for example: That little cigar can have as much more chocolate to it than any real good other Monte! And, when you are REALLY patient a Monte Joyita can last up to almost 20 minutes. This is similar with Monte Club and Mini, but of course they only last five minutes and are a great little "snacks" when one is "on the run." I have not tried the Monte Purito yet, but will one day soon. The only problem I have with skiny, little cigars Like the Joyita is the size v. cost ratio. Five dollars for a Joyita seems outrages. but, one has to also consider that rolling a skinny cigar like a Joyita requires just as much skill as that Lanceros, which require great amount of skill. I have had similar sized RyJ, Punch, Rafael Gonzalez and H. Uppman- each of which warranted an extra box purpose...
CanadianKodiak Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 I haven't tried the EDRM or the RyJ yet but I would stay away from the Monte Puritos if I were you. They're what turned me off of little cigars. Machine made, ugly and mostly flavourless. I like some of the suggestions here, though. I'll definitely be trying more of these little guys.
