Ken Gargett Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 currently reading a top thriller by norb vonnegut called 'the gods of greenwich'. set in wall street amid the hedge funds and the financial crisis. 2nd of his i have read and thoroughly enjoyed both - anyone in the financial industries or interested in them will love it. he regularly mentions wine and seems to know something about it. the hero drinks a wolf blass cab when he discovers his wife is pregnant and the crook drinks mollydooker 'the boxer' shiraz. also mentions quite a few of the top and rare american cabs. and when the wife of the crook mistakenly thinks he is having an afffair, she dumps two bottles of 1961 latour into the dog food. but at one stage, he has various hedge fund managers who make some dosh in a casino opening bottles of champagne by the sword. they are described as "$700 wholesale" so very much the good stuff. but he refers to it having a plastic cork. i know of no top fizz with a plastic cork and can't imagine one. anyone heard of this with one of the very best?
Drguano Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 I know Andre Sparkling Swill comes with a plastic closure but you would be hard pressed to spend $700 for a pallet of the stuff.
