A co-worker knows that I enjoy habanos and he has asked me to order him a box so he can take home to share with family and friends over the holiday. The guy has no clue on cigars in general and I am sure he is just wanting to say to everyone this is a cuban cigar. I told the co-worker I would order him a box but did not give him the website info as I do not know him that well and not sure if he would tell the world and have a bunch of tossers around, thus violating the tosser ruler. Anyway, I am looking for suggestion on a good smoke for the $. I told him how much they can cost and he gave me the impression he wanted to stay on the cheaper end of the spectrum. I was thinking ERDM Choix Supreme, other opinions.........

What about Partagas Shorts or Monte 4s? I assume this guy doesn't smoke too many cigars? These are a couple of mild, cheap alternatives.

» He will fell like a King with Monte 4's.

» Naturally, my preference is Cohiba Esplendidos

Well I am going to order a box for myself too. First chance I have had a chance to take advantage of the special so I might just have to get some Esplendidos for long term aging. What is the profile of the Monte 4, I have never had the privilege of having one

Get him Petit Coronas. He'll feel like they're big cigars. Any bigger and he's likely to be knocked about by the tobacco. And as the Pres said, he'll feel like a king with the Monte 4. Or even R&J Petit Coronas. But no-one I know has ever complained about Trini Reyes (1/2 corona). Then you could say this is the brand Fidel smokes.

Can't go wrong with either Monte 4 or Choix Supreme, but my favorite short stick right now is the JL PC. Great smoke for a beginner with its smoothness and light body, and great value.

I would go with:

Cohiba - if he does not smoke a lot and wants the "forbidden fruit" this will get his attention. Sig III or IV Might be more $$ than he is looking to spend.

Monte - #2 or #4

RyJ - Corona or Churchill

Upmann - Mag 46

On the stronger side

Partagas - P2, young D4 or Corona

Bolivar - PC, RC or Corona

I would try and stick with some popular marcas.

Staying on the lesser expensive side with the

Boli PC, RC or Corona

Mag 46

Tell him anything under $200 for a good cuban cigar is what he should spend.

Check the aged list

H. Upmann Petit Corona 25 ? Sep 03 $151 USD :ok:

He doesn't smoke cigars and he just wants a box so he can impress everyone by telling them he's smoking a Cuban cigar?! Get him some Cazadores!

A GREAT value for the $$ is the Sancho Panza Belicoso !!!

For just a little over $110 from our favorite vendor here - how about a box of Upmann Coronas Majors (TAM). They come in an aluminum tube that says Habana all over the place - will definitely leave the neophyte Habana smoker with that famous Habana 'twang'.... and for that price ---everybody wins!!!
