mk05
Just had a Cuaba salomon gifted by a friend. Just absolutely terrible. Smooth and cool smoke but flavorless and awful. What's your favorite salomon? Not a lot of them out there. I've heard the Partagas Salomones are amazing. Are La China's pretty close to them, or is her blend totally different? crazymancal
Bought a box of Party Salomones few weeks back based on a friend of mine telling me how they are smoking fabulous right now. Mine are OGA May 11 and very dark wrapper color.....almost LE dark. Smoked three last week and loved each one more than the other! Not a fan of this size nor of Partagas but this box has me converting over Cmc

Can't speak of recent ones, mine were 08's.gave the rest away...dull and boring. And those were the ones that burned correctly!

rcarlson
In love with Part Solomones. Had 3 (10) boxes. Every one of them a pleasure from beginning to end. I've found they evolve and therefore stay interesting. I'm always surprised to hear criticism. p.s. they were all 2010.

mazolaman
I enjoy both the Cuaba and Partagas. Neither is a full whack smoke, but they both evolve well, and are well rolled, usually.
jedipastor
The best salamones I've ever had are the old Padilla Miami 8&11's that Don Pepin Garcia rolled himself. Just plain incredible now that they've aged a few years. All the old 8&11s have become stellar, and the Salamones are the cream of the crop. Next would be the one Johnny-O "XBMF" I had. It was fresh, and it was fantastic. Very cereal-like flavors, reminded me of a Montecristo A, but stronger. Like a cross between that and a Tatuaje Especiales. Awesome smoke. 3rd would be the Tatuaje Retro Cuban 184/233. Delicious and relaxing. I'd love to try a Hamlet Salamone someday.
partifan
The Cuaba salamon I had was the most rollercoaster journey cigar I've smoked. I love the shape.
Lotusguy
I voted "other". While I like the vitola, I neither enjoyed the Cuaba Salomones nor the Partagas Salomones. I did like the La Aurora Puro Vintage Salomones 2003 a lot.
Puros Y Vino
I have several Salomones in my humidors but have yet to smoke one. I have about 7 Hamlets, two Cuaba Diademas and one Party Salomone. I'm hoping to smoke a Hamlet this summer.

A year after our trade you tell me this??!! Baccala! I hear the same...not enough flavour. Not going to smoke mine for at least another year. I heard good things about them initially though. melies
Just smoked a partagas salomones from 08, this is one of those cigars that I really want to like, but am sorry to tell it was horrible, just smoke from a wind tunnel the ones that I really want to try are from a certain friend in Hong Kong that promise a lot

mk05
Well, I know there aren't TOO many choices, but at least that would allow most to agree on something. J - I agree with you, not too keen on Partagas or the Cuaba. I think I know what you're talking about with the Davidoff...can't seem to search it, but it came out in 1998/9/2000 in crate of 100, the original Davidoff Millenium Blend Salomones...it has a real delicate wrapper? Very crisp in flavors right (cashew/mint)? Personally with salomones, I like richness and complexity, and old man Pepin's custom roll while he was smashed was awesome. May or may not have been CC tobacco but hey it was amazing . He also rolled some baseball bats for raffle. I just got some Santos salomones and some La China's to do more investigation. If anyone has any Hammy salomones, please shoot me a PM. We could trade or make a deal. Looking to do a salomones spread review. Edit: Some guys have stated Hamlet's sticks don't seem to age well unlike Santos and La China's. Thoughts? Wondering if this is past its prime. Wondering if this is past its prime. Having had the good fortune and pleasure of accessing and smoking quite a few Hamlet customs in the last year (or, "freebasing Hamlets" as Bundwallah/frank coined it), I will submit that my experience has been that there is a distinct "sick period" where I've learned to avoid smoking. His fresh rolls, in my opinion, are simply unparalleled. From 1-6 months I let them rest. This spring I've been enjoying Hamlets rolled late last summer/early fall. I also have a few Hamlet Salamones that are aged (tobacco ~4yrs, rolled ~2yrs ago) and can confirm that they are smoking fantastic.
