CaptainQuintero Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Horrible news to wake up to, Guy feels like a long lost Uncle to me, he's truly one of the best of us. Let us know if we can do anything, keep your foot off the brake unless you really have to Guy
MoneyPit Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I've been away for a few days and was shocked to see this news. I hope you have a speedy recovery and a quick return home. God bless you and your family.
ptrthgr8 Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Definitely very sorry to hear this news. Will absolutely keep Guy and his family in my thoughts and prayers. ~ Greg ~
Styler Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I'm not the praying type but I just sent a short one up for Guy. I've only had minimal dealings with him but he certainly seemed like a 1st class gentleman.
CanuckSARTech Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Just looked into this a bit with my wife the RN, as she's a bit of an CVA specialist in training at her hospital, as her floor has stroke specialty beds/rooms. A scary concern, that's for sure, but he is indeed at one of the best European hospitals around to deal with this. Edit - she says a lot depends on if it's ischemic [sic?] or hemorrhagic. Modern drugs and therapies have come a long way to fix it quickly and effectively if its ischemic. Best wishes and fingers crossed.
OZCUBAN Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Thanks for the medical explanation Keith now I understand What's happening here Hang in there Guy
riazp Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Tous mes pensées et prières sont avec Guy et sa famille. Il est un homme fort et il va s'en sortir. Promp rétablissment Guy
FrankBlack87 Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 whoa just saw this now. hang in there Guy. very sad news. you are in my thoughts...
Ethernut Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I was a regular on the forum a couple of years back. Laficion and I discussed many things on chat. On of the most memorable for me was his love of Coffee. He told me once he came to New York and couldn't find a decent cup anywhere.. Heck, he have told me how Americans brew it wrong with their drip machines which makes it too acidic. He is absolutely right on those points. Heck of a nice fella that Guy.. Prayers for you sir!
CanuckSARTech Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Thanks for the medical explanation Keith now I understand What's happening here Hang in there Guy Yeah Steve, a stroke apparently. Depends on the message relay from Monique to Rob, but that's what it works out to be. I had to look up the French/English translation (my French isn't as strong as others), and then got the rest of the info through my wife. Rob, if yourself or even Monique need answers, translations, down to earth no BS assesments, I can relay anything to my wife for her thoughts, if really needed at all. It's her thing, these sorts of issues. The first 24 and then 72 hours are critical. Definitely our best for him. It shows how much of an impact Guy has on here, the outpouring of well wishes and thoughts in such a short timespan. Fight through it, l'ami!
nonameno Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Hello Guy, I am praying for you and your family that indeed a miracle will be displayed in you. I know you will enjoy coming back to the FOH and reading all of these wonderful comments from your brothers, sisters and friends! Until then... Curtiss
greenpimp Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 All the best to Guy and his family. Class act and a peerless gentleman. We need him around.
PigFish Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Guy is just a first-class human being. Having never met him, I still consider him my friend. I am really busted up about this frankly... and am really praying he pulls through without too much damage. God's speed mate. I am praying for you, often. -Ray
CigarmanTim Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Can't stop thinking about you Guy. Hang tough Brother.

Yes Keith Exactly Had a Cigar tonight 1st for this week, and quiete a few drinks to boot ,was out in the yard ,thinking, well just about every thing ,life death the universe in general Had a RA Extra the 1st one was exceptional, but tonight's was well you know how it is ,like Ray said earlier in the thread NOT IN A GOOD MOOD ,more or less the same for me It made me think how special this place is ,for all of us ,people we for the most part have never met brought together by a common thread MInus judgement ( for the most part ) All good people,so I thought we should enjoy this place and the people in it while it lasts :Tu ne quaesieris, scire nefas, quem mihi, quem tibi finem di dederint, Leuconoë, nec Babylonios tentaris numeros. Ut melius, quidquid erit, pati! Seu plures hiemes seu tribuit Iuppiter ultimam, quae nunc oppositis debilitat pumicibus mare Tyrrhenum, sapias, vina liques, et spatio brevi spem longam reseces. Dum loquimur, fugerit invida aetas: carpe diem quam minimum credula postero . OZ
cgarner Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Been thinking of Guy all day. I hope we all hear some good news soon. Praying for a full and speedy recovery.
Habanos2000 Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Shocking indeed. Again from someone that's never had the pleasure to meet the man, as of yet, I consider him a friend. Prayers for a speedy recovery.
Squarehead Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 It's always terrible news when a family member(and he's family, isn't he?)gets seriously ill.I wish him a full recovery and keep him in my thoughts.
IcedCanuck Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I hope he pulls through this with little effort. I wish him and his family the best and hope for a speedy recovery.
Orion21 Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Guy, my prayers are with you right now my friend. I pray that God will hold off for many more years and that you will be back with us soon joking on shoutbox and educating everyone about the "old" and "new" habanos cigars. My thoughts are with your family at this very hard time.
