Every second Sunday Fuzz and myself get together for a round of golf, the last two the gods have been on his side though not for long!

The 1st two holes before we fired up our cigars I was playing really well, got to the 3rd hole and Fuzz generously gave me a Monte sublime EL 2008 and it was awesome, still too young and needs at least another 5 years but you can tell it has great potential.

Now the second I started smoking my cigar, my game went down hill, well not really just my luck turned! missing shots, ball rolling on the green incorrectly, missing stupid putts when I should have got them in easily, I have to blame someone and I am blaming the cigar.

My question us do you usually smoke while playing golf? (I like to smoke a light to medium cigar, the one Fuzz gave me was freaking heavy and nearly made me faint.) Do you also have few beers? I find that if I have few beers while playing it relaxes me and I play better, Fuzz doesn't seem to agree.

Always bring along 2-3 smokes to the golf course but never CC. The beer drinking there is always a magic number around beer # 7 the golf game gets a little sloppy. Currently a 7 handicap but what ruins my game the most is thinking about my score.

Woahhhhh 7?!!!!! We'll get there one day.

is it a 7 handicap in the conventional sense, or a handicap from the 7th beer onwards? :wink2:

drinking helps for a short period of time before i get dehydrated and woozy and fall apart.

i agree that complex/interesting cigars should be banned from the golf course ... either i enjoy the flavour or the golf but can't really do both.

but on the rare occasion i play golf i Always smoke cigars. like to sit down after a few holes to enjoy the cigar and coffee or [insert alcohol here] better (so avoid busy golf courses or just let people through!). chipping and putting is easier with a churchill in your mouth than a short robusto by the way... unless you have goggles. :cigar: FOUR! :cigar:

I'm a casual player... don't know much about handicaps or play in private clubs etc. but I love a cigar while I play and, in fact, it makes me play better. I find I don't concentrate to hard on the little stuff and perhaps the 'enjoyment' improves my game.

I've only been playing for around 4 years and have only won 4 times (that I can recall) and at least two of these times I was smoking a cigar. Going out again this Sunday, I'm thinking BHK52 :) :)

It was all part of my evil plan! :sneaky: With your head spinning, the game was all mine!!

Now I just have to figure out which cigar to give you next time to throw your game? I wonder if I can get my hands on a Guantanamera Cristale? :innocent:

I always bring cigars for the back 9 if I'm playing with a group that will appreciate the generosity. I used to be pretty serious about my game but now I just enjoy the opportunities to get out on the course. I do agree that it does negatively affect my score as I tend not to care as much once lighting up. Hit 'em straight boys!

As far as booze goes I think my performance changes as a bell curve. It peaks at about three glasses (usually drink scotch), after that is all downhill.

As far as cigar goes, don't usually smoke them on the course as I tend to concentrate more on the cigar than on the game!

One of these days I'm going to have to get one of those cigar holder thingamebobs. I can't swing of putt with the damn cigar in my mouth, and as Elie learnt, you can make an ash of yourself.

Depending upon who I am golfing with, I have a cigar. No restrictions on type. I don't get paid to play so as long as I have fun and hit the ball well, I'm good. I've found a cigar doesn't interfere with that.

I actually haven't partaken in a cigar on the course(yet!!) I did however hit all my fairways yesterday and did a 305m drive!! ok so the rest of my game wasnt great though (bad in fact)

was that a 305 straight? or a Fuzz's 305?

I love to smoke whilst playing! partagas D4 would def be my go too golfing cigar. As far as drinking goes, well i usually find a couple of quick nips of a scotch or port are great to calm things down but anything more and my putting goes to hell (and its not great to begin with :) )

Okay, sure it travelled 150m down the fairway and an equal distance to the right across another fairway :surprised: , but it is still a long drive!! :wink2:

At least my shots sliced after going down the fairway, not right off the tee!! Bloody lucky I always stand behind you!!

That was a one off and it had started to rain and I was standing on an angle!

One-off? You hit 2 balls in the exact same direction and they both nearly hit the same tree!! :wink2:

That's still considered a one off, at least I didn't nearly kill someone :rolleyes:

Ah, young Cazadores or PLPCs. Love those powerhouses.

Elie, if I can convince Jase to turn up, I think I'll pick up a Partagas Culebras just for the heck of it!

the beers, the cigars sounds fantastic, the golf however sounds to good for your health.

I always take a couple of DC's, one for the front and one for the back.

I like to start with a Hoyo then finish with a Punch or RA.

I always put it down to hit a shot or putt.

I have to say that I don't mind smoking while I play but I usually tend to care more about enjoying my cigar and not my game and thus my score goes down the crapper.
