Are aristocrats the best? What would you recommend monolith or something else. I want temp and humidity control around 30 boxes and around 300 loose give or take

It honestly depends on where you are located. I live/work about 30 minutes away from Bob's Aristocrat shop, but I could never use one for my cigars. Climates like the one here in Texas are so hot most of the year, a thermoelectric unit, like the Aristocrats, are not efficient at all, and in the summer, not even effective.

The only route to take in these climates is either a custom Wine fridge build, which I have done, or I do believe the monolith, Climate Care, and Remington units are compressor based units.

So to answer your question, it depends on where you are located. If you want to keep your cigars at 65F, a thermoelectric unit is perfectly fine as long as your ambient temp never gets above 75F.

My aristocrat should be arriving in 2 weeks! Cant wait.

I live in ireland so i shouldnt have many issues when managing temps.

You should probably be fine in SoCal. I know many a happy Aristocrat owner in SoCal. Don't get me wrong, I love hanging out at his shop and I love his craftsmanship and work, just not functional for us here in Texas, where it is 90F today already and we will be at 112F in no time. You can only keep your house so cool when it's 112F outside.

I really like the Remington models too.

They look good just don't like glass door I was thinking monolith but a lot of aristocrat fans. Im running three desk tops and wife wants me to run one so looking for something end table size with temp and humi contol and not sure how to set up a wine cooler

I have a compressor style wine fridge, that I made a lot of modifications and customization with commercial grade industrial controls and parts. I don't recommend a compressor style if you don't add some modifications and mainly commercial controls.

Don't the Monolith's have glass doors too?

If you are going temp controlled, and have an option with or without glass door, go without. The added insulation just makes life easier for you and your cigars.

Also, for forget to look over the "humidor" section of the message boards. Good luck!!

I've been nothing but pleased with my Aristocrat M THC (with temp and RH control) since it arrived back in November. The build delays were epic and frustrating and the first temp control unit that showed up burnt out in a couple of weeks (Bob said it was an older model that was discontinued for that very reason - the new one he quickly sent out has worked perfectly). But now that it's been running perfectly fine for ~5 months I'd have to say it was worth the agonizing delays. Mostly.

I keep meaning to take some new pics since it's gotten more full of cigars, but I keep forgetting. Here's a pic taken shortly after it arrived last winter:

I like the glass doors - fun to walk by and look at all the goodness inside! :)

Cheers,

I live about 40 miles from you, in West Ft Worth, and can keep my house at any temp I choose when it is 112 outside...typically 70-72. But, then again, we have air conditioning :)

I have AC too , but when no one is home during the day, I'm not keeping my house at 70-72, when it's 112F outside. Residential AC's are designed to be most efficient only up to a 30 degree variance, anything above that is is inefficient and destructive for long term reliability of a unit.
