Mr PigFish,

How about a hypothetical question, because I'm just interested. If you die tomorrow, how many cigars will be left after you? :)

TOO DAMN MANY! MOST DISCONTINUED AND ALL (WELL MOST) REALLY EFFIN' GOOD ONES! -LOL

(Don't tell anyone but there are a few EL's and RE's in there too! They make up the crappy ones!)

For the record, I am not saying smoke all your good cigars in one day. I am saying that there is a lot to be said for smoking good cigars when they tell you that they are good. As Android said, let them speak to you! It is that simple. There is also the experience that one gets by smoking through a whole box of cigars while the memory of their siblings is still fresh in one's mind. You learn a lot about the myth of cigar consistency (MHO), flavor profile and the like. It is just another lesson of the CC.

I did not address age of cigars here either. Age of the cigar means absolutely nothing to me. Some aged cigars are good and others are crap. Age does not make a cigar. Good tobacco, a good blend and a good roller makes a good cigar. A good cigar is born that way, not aged that way! It is not the age, the bands, the box, the price or any of that BS. I am not saying that age has no effect! I am saying that young cigars can be every bit as good as old ones. The whole age thing is put together by collectors so that they can hold their heads over others in the community. It adds values to their collections... coincidentally mine too! But I don't give a rats ass about what collectors say and disregard most of their opinions as a means to stratify the community. A means by which the collector seems to always appear at the titular head; coincidentally of course!!! -LOL

To me age means the cigar is acclimatized to my liking. It is a reference point to talk about. It does not mean much more than that. There are years with reputations, but those reputations are not at all absolutes.

Cheers! -Piggy

Great answer Pigfish... would love to meet up with you and have a smoke sometime. I quoted your sig on a thread here, with your name, just the other day!

Lisa

My dear, the pleasure would be all mine. The cigar community in general is amongst the best groups of people I have ever come across. A once solitary smoker, I found a whole group of great friends in the on-line cigar community. I have friends all over the globe now. Pilots, lawyers, plumbers, kids (relatively speaking), service men and women (God bless them), cigar vendors, publishers, doctors... you name it, we can all smoke together as peers. We are all very different, but when we sit down for a smoke, or meet on-line to talk, we are all brother and sisters of the leaf.

Cigars break down barriers. They are a common ground of fraternity and kinship.

Can't wait. Got some pistol days coming up soon here with my course. Only a few weeks to go before some wicked off-hand stuff too, I've heard. Should be good.

Maybe this upcoming fall, if Claus still plans to organize a Las Vegas herf in the November timeline, then the wife and I would either come out a few days early and/or stay a few days later, and we can do some shooting. I'd still like to take the Combat Handgun or the Tactical Hangun courses at Front Sight in Vegas there. Definitely something to look forward to as the year goes on.
