leftimatic Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Oh charcoal for sure. A wood fire never hurts either.
fokker4me Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Charcoal is the only way to go for flavor, that being I use gas grill at home as I can be cooking in a few minutes.
forgop Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Staying at a cabin in the Smokey Mountains and the only grill available is one of those park type grills for charcoal. Not digging it as it's hard to get the temp high enough to my liking and I plan on grilling NY Strip and Flat Iron Steaks.
HiPower Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Charcoal in the smoker and a gas grill beside it. Both have their merits.
Phillys Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I can't choose, I need both! So many things you can do on one but not the other. It's like asking me which one of my kids I like best, I can't choose. This just made me want to smoke some ribs this weekend.
Fosgate Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Charcoal if time and weather permits. Otherwise it's gas.
Habana Mike Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Down here we only use charcoal! And 100% hardwood lump at that! 1
MWH Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 I prefer charcoal and wood chips but I currently have a gas BBQ
herc1119 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Gas can never replace charcoal. Gotta support those miners in WV
moryc Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Charcoal for me. Webber Kettle and the Webber Smokey Mountain Cooker.
peterk814 Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 depends on what your cooking too. sometimes i dont wanna add a smokey flavor.
Jeremy Festa Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Just a little shout out to my mate DJBBQ. If you want an exemplary example of how to do things right when it comes to barbecuing. Look him up. We just made his rad rum ribs. Jamie Oliver has taken him under his wing and therefore, new heights! He is on foodtube and Instagram and has a cool book out! Sent from my iPhone
sanity Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 As many have stated: Lump charcoal on the Big Green Egg
teamrandr Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I for one prefer briquets over lump charcoal. Charcoal all the way.
TM-US Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Charcoal for grilling and smoking. I don't have anything that uses gas except for the kitchen stove. I'd like to hear why infrared is the way to go for steaks- Brazoseagle? I don't think I'll get one regardless, due to the extreme cost.
bugg4672 Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Neither, WOOD is the only way to go. I use Hickory wood chunks when cooking beef and pork. When I cook chicken I use apple wood chunks. Try wood you'll love it. 1
muzz Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I use charcoal for fish and special occasion roast meats but other than that you can't beat the convenience of a gas bbq when pressed for time with a family of 5. 1
