mikek Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Truthfully, I usually test the draw after cutting and then if I'm not satisfied I put it back in the humidor and pick something else. Cut cigars tend to expand if stored properly and will draw fine. If the cigar is so overfilled that it will never draw, you have to pitch it. It affects taste. Ditto

helix Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I always check the draw before lighting . Sometimes the skewer can save the day, sometimes cutting if tight near the foot, barring that its crushed and going in the pipe.

Diamondog Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Use my cigar draw tool...i either get it fixed completely or the cigar gets wrecked....either way i do not ever fight with a cigar anymore...had to do this tonight on an '06 espy, very uncomfortable draw to begin with but fixed beautifully now...works wonders

Do you throw away a car because it has an engine problem, or do you try to fix it if you can? Same thing, just on a smaller scale. Some of us make sacrifices even to smoke $5-10 cigars. You'd better believe we're going to try and salvage it. 2

That's a ridiculous analogy but to keep with it, yes, if I had 100 other cars in my garage then I would toss this one.
CaptainQuintero Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Had half a box of Quintero panetelas recently that were plugged, how a short filler gets plugged is quite impressive, threw the 'returns' back into the box in disgust, made a point to chuck them in upside down, sideways, higildy pigildy etc just so I know that they will be laid there uncomfortable and in the dark for a long, long time. Punishment by jail time, will revisit in a year or so, if they are still playing hardball then they are off to live with the NC singles for a year, see how smart they think they are after that! 1

I can only afford one. Therefore, I'm going to do whatever possible to keep it running and serviceable. And I'm certainly not going to junk it for a flat tire, just because I have 100 more just like it waiting in the wings.

Ok so it's a ridiculous analogy, I'll grant you that. The point is, if you didn't sacrifice a lot for the stick, you'll not think twice about tossing it. If even smoking a stick or two a week means you forgo other hobbies, maybe it'll be more difficult and you'll try more remedies first. Not everyone has the means to make tossing aside a cigar something they do without hesitation or a second thought.
