FrankBlack87 Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Well, the CA list is in. The only reason I read their annual top cigar list is for laughs . I am curious, what are your thoughts??? http://cigaraficionado.com/top25/show/id/16266 10. Casa Magna Colorado Diadema 9. Warlock Robusto 8. Punch Double Corona (cuba) 7. Cabaiguan Guapo 6. Rocky Patel 15th Anniversry Torpedo 5. Padron 1964 Anniverary Exclusivo Maduro 4. Partagas Serie P. No 2 (cuba) 3. Illusione Espernay Le Taureau 2. La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amor Belicoso 1. Alec Bradley Prensado Churchill
Marker Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 RP 15th right next to a padron and higher than a CC. All you need to read.
Habanakane21 Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I Think the No.1 will be the Lotano Oval. La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amor Belicoso was a joke, I had one today. I had Padron 1964 Anniverary Exclusivo Maduro last week, Pretty good smoke. Deserving to be in the top 25. My buddy Pete's Cigar Cabaiguan Guapo is a winner. Good Cigar. I've had the Casa Magna Colorado Diadema...Very Good. But in my opinion The psp2 is the best and the Punch DC is right there behind. I must admit When I was young I used this publication to chose my cigars. Now a days it's more of a joke. Lets see who pays the most to be crowned CA cigar of the year!!
FrankBlack87 Posted January 6, 2012 Author Posted January 6, 2012 it really is a terrible list IMO...Im not sure how one anyone can take it seriously...but as we all know, CA is geared toward american NC smokers.

Lets see who pays the most to be crowned CA cigar of the year!! lol exactly. Im pretty sure there will be less than 5 cubans in the top 25.
coblos Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I generally try some of the lower priced cigars that make their lists and haven't been disappointed. It's a decent guide.
sg1234 Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 CA should rename this list "Top 25 first 5 puffs"
tdlfoto Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 my thoughts are that that list is a composite tribute to the companies who advertise, and tribute to actual cigar smokers. rather useless all together.
DaniloSilni Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Hovy is right, the #1 cigar of the year....none other than the AB Prensado. What a joke! Mind you, i do enjoy it as a regular cigar from time to time but it is FAR from being the best out there for 2011..
Scdalak Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I just dont think you can mix CC and NC's in the same list, doesnt make sense. Regardless of thier documented parameters for the taste testings its simply apples to oranges. If they want to impress us do a Cuban Top 10 each year.
riazp Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I just dont think you can mix CC and NC's in the same list, doesnt make sense. Regardless of thier documented parameters for the taste testings its simply apples to oranges. If they want to impress us do a Cuban Top 10 each year. I feel that the top 25 should be NC only. I cringe everytime I see a CC on there...now with the psp2 at no.4 (extremely deserving) now in the next two weeks not one vendor will have psp2's in stock lol. so if you like em stock up now boys! Like Kane, i used this list to try out various NC's since they are hard to come by in canada...Illusione is well derserving of a top 3 and Cabaguin is one of pete's best kept secrets.
TankerT Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I just dont think you can mix CC and NC's in the same list, doesnt make sense. Regardless of thier documented parameters for the taste testings its simply apples to oranges. If they want to impress us do a Cuban Top 10 each year. They are all cigars. It's a top Cigars of 2011, not top Cubans of 2011. And, there are some awesome NCs out there. It makes perfect sense.
goalie204 Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Don't read it, don't let it hold any water, and don't care about it. Just thought i'd share that
Puros Y Vino Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Don't read it, don't let it hold any water, and don't care about it. Just thought i'd share that C'mon Myles. You know we need to ***** about something cigar related? This is an annual whipping boy.
goalie204 Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 C'mon Myles. You know we need to ***** about something cigar related? This is an annual whipping boy. I bitched about it in 2007 Frank, and even a little in 08.. now it's just such a joke it's not worth the effort to even type anymore posts about it
Lotusguy Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 LOL - and to think that I literally could not even give away that box of Prensados that I had...
Bahnofstrasse Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Laughable is all I can say... They should do a NC list sole and separate. $10 retail for that #1 Dogrocket when I can have a Partagas 8-9-8 for the same price?
tdlfoto Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I've only had one Alec Bradley - a "Family Blend" that Art (maverickdrinker) kindly gifted me, and it was fantastic!
Orion21 Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 The list is subjective guys. And the only reason I don't slam these guys more often about their selections is because Cuban's are so inconsistent it may be hard to get a good box every time to sample from. I happen to love the Mi Amor line and would happily smoke it anytime. But I just don't understand the Rocky Patel and Alec Bradley selections... All I can do is throw my hands up in the air and put my head down and remember the reason why I don't read the magazine anymore or frequent their website any longer. Good riddance!
SCgarman Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I have one of those La Aroma de Cuba mi amor belicosos in my humi. I bought 2 many months ago, smoked one and was so unimpressed with it that the other is still in the humi. The clowns at CA rated this cigar a 95 out of 100 which in my opinion is absolutely hilarious. Personally I think these ratings are mostly a crock of BS and that the advertisers who spend millions of dollars with CA magazine seem to always score at the top with the exception of course being Habanos.
riazp Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I just find it hillarious that that guy who found that leak to the top 10 was actually right! wow...I got nothing against AB, he makes some good cigars, and i will not comment on the no.1 cigar because I have never smoked one. i still wish the psp2 was left off the list LOL
ChanceSchmerr Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I liked the Alec Bradley Tempus Lancero...tasted great until I noticed the brown oily residue it left on my fingers....as if the oily wrapper was actually brushed on the cigar or something! Never again. I did not continue my CA subscription for 2012. If I wanted to read about Golf and Hybrid BMW's, I'd buy magazines related to those items. Looking to subscribe to ECCJ when I get home!
Marker Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 The PSP2 is one my favorite CC and it was outstanding in 2011! For some reason, people don't like piramides, more for me! I love the PSP2. Also love piramides and belicoso but most don't. The AB Presnado is excellent and I have had a few. #1 is not realistic but for value it is very good. Never had the churchill but not really into those big cigars anyhow.
kaleehb Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 This list is just like having the opportunity to sleep with a really hot drunk chick...it tends to never be as good as you want it to be.....
