Matt Day Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Sancho Panza non plus review Boxcode n/a Smoke time 50 mins approx. Burn fair This was my first Sancho panza and my initial thoughts while smoking was that I cannot understand why more pople don’t like these the flavour profile is unique. If anything I say it must be down to the construction issues which have affected the brand. This version had a very rustic wrapper with a few green spots and slight damage to the foot due to shipping. 1st third Started out with an initial flavour of very doughy bread other notable flavours in this third were a hint of cream and naissances of sea salt. 2nd third In this third the sea salt continued to advance with a slight biscuit quality to it, a herbal flavour was also present. towards the end of the third the sea salt became rather strong and combined with what I would describe as a salty sea weed flavour. 3rd third The salt retuned to its original form and a pepper came trougth for most of this third. These two flavours mixed extremely well, I also present was a hint of what I would describe as coffee liquor. Final thoughts A very good cigar which well represented the flavour profile associated with the marque. I think a box on non plus is on my future purchase list . However to habanos I would say why not give the brand some decent packaging a nice band with Sancho on it would be an idea. Furthermore try to resolve the construction issues. To me the brand is worth saving and just needs a little help maybe a Sancho panza rubusto re would be an idea. For this particular cigar I give it a rating of 91 and would highly recommend if you do get these to try go for a reputable retailer to make sure you get some well-constructed version’s to sample.
CanuckSARTech Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Well done. Nice review - I always like seeing pictures, to take me "along for the ride" too! Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
frenchkiwi Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 nice review. good thing about SPs is the saltiness goes well with beers, although i restrict that to thick stouty ones like Guinness!!
Colt45 Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Thanks for the review. I've not had this one, but have smoked through two ten counts of '03 Corona Gigantes. Detectable flavor was enjoyable, but tight construction made them more work than worth the effort.
