maverickdrinker Posted October 15, 2011 Author Posted October 15, 2011 Damn yyyooouuuu...... I was looking at a bottle of oban today. Will have to see if it is available for sampling at the tasting tower tomorrow
brazoseagle Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Oban is great !!!! Tonight I had a dram of Balvenie Doublewood - neat with a HU Sir Winston then A dram of Zaya aged rum - 1 ice cube then A dram of Bookers- neat then A dram of Asbach Uralt Brandy - neat Post cigar, I wanted something sweet to drink to cap off the night. So my "go to" hidden secret indulgence is a custom cocktail I created a while back. It has since been named "The Willy Wonka" because one time my buddy wanted to taste it, and immediately after coined the quote of the decade: " That tastes just like Willy Wonka just pissed in your glass, that's the best drink I've ever had!" So here it is: 1.5 oz. Flor de Cana silver rum 1.5 oz. Malibu Coconut Rum Splash of Zaya aged run Squeeze of lime juice Couple of tablespoons of the Marachino Cherry juice From the jar ( or cherry vodka) On ice Finish with Real Coke or Mexican Coke ( both made with real cane sugar) Stir with a spoon and serve on ice!!!!!!!!

goalie204 Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Right now a locally roasted Barzulla Espresso coffee blend that i coarse ground and made in the french press. Great coffee
maverickdrinker Posted October 15, 2011 Author Posted October 15, 2011 tried the signatory 1999 Caol Ila and the Cutty Sark 25 yr old at the LCBO Summerhill today. The Cutty Sark was gorgeous. The Coal Ila, not so much. The CI smelled like burnt rubber tires and iodine. Wierd for my tastes.

riazp Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Laphroaig QC and Oban 14. Didn't care much for the Oban. Too plain-jane. The Laphroaig was great as usual. Nice burn. I couldn't taste the steak dinner or the two cigars, I definitely tasted the fire in the Laphroaig though! I loved the Oban, probably because i'm a whisky noob lol. I'm having a dram of té bheag after a rough day at work. more tonight probably.
