edlye Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Auchentoshan The Valinch (2011), 57.5% ABV. A cracker of a dram, full of flavour and benefits from water. Notes of vanilla and citrus on the nose and hints of caramel, nuts, zesty citrus and over-ripe bananas on the palate. A bit of a charry light smoke finish with pepper that lingers.

Does "Valinch" in this case also refer to the special bottlings usually reserved for visitors to the distillery who are allowed to draw up their own bottles with the traditional pipette (aka Valinch) ?
edlye Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Indeed, the bottling is named after the utensil (Valinch) used to draw a sample from the barrel. Awesome! Lotusguy Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 After a Hendricks Martini some very nice Lagavulin 16. I have to stay over at my buddy's
edlye Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Van Winkle Family Reserve 13 YO (No. B1057). You can really taste the heavy charr on the staves and the vanilla oaky notes but with very little bitterness or tannins. A pleasant aftertaste that doesn't linger too long. Fruity notes become more forward with a few drops of water added.
CanadianKodiak Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Mid-grade vodka and water....I'm so pretentious.
AussieMitch Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Lapsang Souchon tea. Black. Milk in tea is a no no in my books.
brazoseagle Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 6th Sense Syrah, and a couple or ten chimay's and amstels.

winelover Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Hennessy Fine de Cognac - a pretty good VSOP. Sipped slowly from a Royal Doulton snifter . Happy times but Hine Rare VSOP would blow this out the water!
Zigatoh Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Had a king goblin, on a rigwelter, to be followed by a hay maker, all good ales
brazoseagle Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 What am I drinking right now?........everything, all of it!
ckile2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 ron zacappa 23, pyrat and occasionally Elijah Craig 12. On the easier nights I like to have some yellow tail Shiraz.
Strada Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Unibroue 17 Grand Reserva to celebrate the weekend. God I love Fridays!!! Wish I had 20 cases of this stuff...only have 3 bottles left. Unbelievable, and so perfect with a rich, deep cigar. Thanks for putting me onto this one Shlo! Still got lots of cases at the Fromagerie.
westg Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 A lot of hard liquor going down on the forum! About to crack a Redback wheat beer before dinner. Yep I drink this to love it.
Colt45 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 2009 Pelissero Langhe Nebbiolo. Very good, but could use a bit more time (to me).
