Auchentoshan The Valinch (2011), 57.5% ABV. A cracker of a dram, full of flavour and benefits from water. Notes of vanilla and citrus on the nose and hints of caramel, nuts, zesty citrus and over-ripe bananas on the palate. A bit of a charry light smoke finish with pepper that lingers.

Awesome! Does "Valinch" in this case also refer to the special bottlings usually reserved for visitors to the distillery who are allowed to draw up their own bottles with the traditional pipette (aka Valinch) ?

Indeed, the bottling is named after the utensil (Valinch) used to draw a sample from the barrel.

Van Winkle Family Reserve 13 YO (No. B1057). You can really taste the heavy charr on the staves and the vanilla oaky notes but with very little bitterness or tannins. A pleasant aftertaste that doesn't linger too long. Fruity notes become more forward with a few drops of water added.

Hennessy Fine de Cognac - a pretty good VSOP. Sipped slowly from a Royal Doulton snifter :). Happy times but Hine Rare VSOP would blow this out the water!

Unibroue 17 Grand Reserva to celebrate the weekend. God I love Fridays!!!

Wish I had 20 cases of this stuff...only have 3 bottles left. Unbelievable, and so perfect with a rich, deep cigar.

Thanks for putting me onto this one Shlo!

Still got lots of cases at the Fromagerie.
