NCs don't taste as good to me, so I don't smoke them.

I enjoy both, Compared side by side, I think the Best of the Cubans always wins over the Best of the Non-Cubans, but there are a lot of great non-cubans that can stand up against alot of the Cubans no

Jesus, did I just read this??? ... I don't have sex with goats either! Unless I do, I have no idea how to make love; is that it??? Missing something? I'll risk it! This is the silliest post I have

So smoking BRC and PSD4 at 8 or so USD a pop is being a snob, unless I also smoke 15 to 30 USD Padron and Fuentes? Yeah, logic seems right......

I buy CC's by the box and NC's by the 5 pack. That is about the ratio of my CC to NC too.

Also, There are just too many damn NC brands. 100's of NC brands compared to 30 CC brands.

Cubans only now. I started with NCs and CCs as singles. Found that I could buy Cubans cheaper than NCs and vastly preferred the taste. Everything NC tastes the same to me.

Didn't Jesus once say "Smoke only Cubans. It is meet, and right, so to do"?

Haha..."Smoke only Cubans. It is meek (I think that is what you meant Gav!), and right, to do so!"

I'm not familiar with that one mate. It should be added as the second quote of Jesus outside the gospels and the Book of Revelation...Acts 20:35 "It is more blessed to give than receive."

If we combine the two we get a very positive message..."It is more blessed to give than receive therefore smoke Cubans as it is meek and right to do so!"

There are very few NC brands I will buy boxes of. If Rob didn't grade the CCs I likely wouldn't have purchased nearly as many boxes of them as I have.

I just wish I could buy çcs blind like NCs and get the same quality box to box.

I smoke mostly NCs at the moment since I live in the US and I didn't have a trustworthy source for CCs. The few CCs I smoke are reserved for special occasions. NCs are so abundant and cheap there isn't much of a choice... that is, until a few weeks ago when I discovered you all. Now I'm excited to try as many CCs as I can get my hands on.

I smoke both but I prefer Cubans. Depending on how my money is doing I'll buy and only smoke Cubans for months. If my money is funny then I'll smoke more NC. There are good NC but there's nothing like an aged cuban. Just my opinion.

I started out smoking NC's about 20 years ago. I loved the Padron and CAO's. Then I met Mitchell Orchant, and everything changed... When I found out about CC's, I started doing a massive amount of research into the differences in the tobacco, the soil, and the growing techniques of cigars around the world. I found that Cuban soil (especially the Vuelta Abajo region) has almost no Malik Acid (the naturally occurring substance that gives green apples their tart flavor) in the soil makeup. Everywhere else in the world this substance is abundant...

This, combined with the climate and the techniques the Cubans have perfected, is the reason that CC's are the best cigars in the world. This is also the reason that NC's will never be as good...

Since I have been buying CC's for over 15 years, I hardly ever smoke anything with less than 10 years on them, with the exception of the recent 24:24's BBF's and Esplendidos... I also value my time so that when I get a chance to smoke, it has to be a great cigar...

Nah definitely "meet". Old meaning. The "meek" I think meek is from "the meek shall inherit the earth".

Yeah. I get it...meet as in 'fulfill or satisfy'. Good one! biggrin.png

Maybe it is just my taste, but I would prefer a good Fuente or Ashton or Padron over a Quintero or Vegueros any day. It would be interesting to have a blind taste test between premium NC and non-premium CC and see who wins? However, I just think it depends a lot on person's taste pallet too. I often find the stuff that something like Cigar Aficionado rate high sometimes rate lower on my preference. I go back to the tread about Cuban Cigars that users through were overrated. I was surprised how many people like myself mentioned Cohiba which often score high in publications.

I agree it would be interesting to have the people who claim to be strictly NC or CC smokers do a blind taste test. Personally I like smoking both, they both have their pro's and con's and have something different to offer. I could never choose just one.

I smoke both NC and CC, I would say I am 50/50 or thereabouts based on volume; however, I spend more on CC than NC, probably 70/30. Some of that reflects the scarcity value with certain CC, at least to an extent, but mostly it is because I find the top CC are noticeably and consistently better than their NC counterparts, at least 2 to 1. To be sure, there are a lot of excellent NC from Central America, the DR, etc. which are produced with superb quality and are where I find my better value cigars. IMO, some of the quality issues with "second tier" CC are too frequent for the price relative to NC alternatives. Overall, there are climate conditions, soil pH, etc. in many places that are similar to that of Cuba, but what makes CC special is "know how" which I think is when all the elements from the climate to the plant to the farmer to the roller all come together. The CC flavor just hasn't been able to be replicated elsewhere.

The Padron family makes some of the best cigars in the world, and are also the most consistent cigars you can find. There are few cigars that can match up to the quality of a Family Reserve 45.

If you're not smoking high-end Fuentes and Padrons, because you're "100% CC," you're not really a cigar smoker. You're just a snob. And you have no idea what you're missing, fellas.

And.. everyone is entitled to their opinion, which is exactly what this is...

If 100% CC smokers enjoy their cigars, who are you to say they are snobs, and not really cigar smokers...

While I have to back CigSid in that this is just an opinion, I can't quite follow the snob-argument here. Can't it simply be a standpoint, a developed preferred taste?

I got about 25 of the critters, both he and she. I would love to get rid of a few. They are becoming a bloody pain.
