My summer planned trip to Cuba was scuppered so I did the next best thing... a whisky buying trip/tour of Scotland! Had a great week with a mix of rain and glorious sunshine. Some great pick ups too -

Blanton's gold US release

There was a sale of Weller $20 a bottle, limit one per customer.

Was in Napa a few weeks ago. I picked up the following.

1 - Cliff Lede 2008 Lonely Wizard (Stag's Leap)

1 - Shafer 2008 One Point Five

1 - Hall Rutherford 2007 Bergfeld

1 - Alpha Omega 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon

2 - Frank's Family 2007 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Where'd you pick those up? At the wineries themselves?

Was at a walk around Italian wine tasting in Toronto last week and ended up ordering six of these 2009 Mastroberardino Radici Reserva Taurasi. Got a call today that they were in for pick up and was pleasantly surprised that it came in a very nice wood box.

Johnny Drum is a Willett product, has nothing to do with Pappy nor is it a wheated mashbill. Good stuff, though.

True, Willett as I recall doesn't actually make anything.. they buy barrels for their bottlings. There's a little scuttle butt 'round here (I'm from KY) that a Drum release was Pappy Mashbill much like Weller 12 which has some wheat but is also very similar in profile to Lot B.

Hard to verify of course. Cheers!

I don't find that in my experience. Doesn't taste like a wheated mashbill, but maybe that's just me. Weller is the exact same as Pappy, just differences in proof, age and barrel treatment.

Sounds like something the distillery would be glad to have being speculated. Of the Drum I've sampled it's as close to Pappy as Old Crow is.

Been meaning to pick up a bottle but every time I'm at KL, something else "falls into my hands" :innocent:
