dangolf18 Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Picked up a bottle of Glenlivet 18...huge pass for me. Not my cup of tea. Almost everything else in that price range is better.

dangolf18 Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 How much does the 18 go for where you're at? Usually $80-$90 but I got mine for $62.99 plus 9% tax at Costco. 1

canadianbeaver Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Just returned from Chicago where the Bourbon audit continues. Saturday night was the gala for the American Cancer Society. Silent auction, bought 4 bottles of local bourbon. Two from the basket here, plus a bottle of "FEW", found at a quality liquor store. Two more have to be sent to us. And another basket called "Mixology". 9 bottles of assorted booze. Overpaid but for a great cause! 4

sengjc Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 An independent bottling of single grain whisky that's way older than I am from the now closed and demolished Caledonian distillery. 3
sengjc Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 They spelled old wrong... its fake!! What can I say... these Scots can hardly spell let alone pronounce English. 1
Rye Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 An independent bottling of single grain whisky that's way older than I am from the now closed and demolished Caledonian distillery. That has an incredibly high abv for a 40 year old 1
Lant63 Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 New bottlings at 43% not good anymore? just really didn't have any depth of flavor. I was expecting more. I think the smws are spoiling me.
sengjc Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 That has an incredibly high abv for a 40 year old Not that unusual for grain whisky (higher alc% distillate) and refill cask maturation.

sengjc Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 Another bottle of the 1974 Caledonian 40 Year Old by Duncan Taylor for their Rare Auld series - bottle no. 88 of 213 this time. What can I say? '88' is a good number and numerology is quite important in my cultural heritage. Also a couple of Society bottlings from the latest Outturn: - SMWS 10.85, a 17 year old Bunnahabhain from a 2nd fill sherry cask. - SMWS 30.87, a 14 year old Glenrothes from a refill port pipe. 3
TM-US Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 This was not as good as some of my others, and we have 6 or 7? Just got it. winkle.jpg It's not that consistent. ORVW is great some years and just okay other years.Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
TM-US Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 Yes - good buy. If you don't plan to get it then please let me know so that I can. The 50.7% is the old bottling, buy as many as you can.Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
sengjc Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 A mate brought me into Costco Australia and I am pleasantly surprised to come across these for a steal of a price: I think I'll sign up. 1
