A few recent acquisitions 1980s bottlings of Glenfiddich 15 and 18. 1980s bottling of Macallan 12 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My summer planned trip to Cuba was scuppered so I did the next best thing... a whisky buying trip/tour of Scotland! Had a great week with a mix of rain and glorious sunshine. Some great pick ups too -

Independent bottlings of Glenlivet (46% 19 yo), Laprhioag (16 years 50%), Craigellechie(19 years 50%), Kilchoman Vintage 2008, Ardbeg Uigedall, and Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban. Also got a bottle fo 16yo Kirkland single malt from the Highland region. It's only at 40% but figured I was at Costco and couldn't hurt to have 1 more bottle of scotch. More whisky > less whisky.

Hindsight being 20/20 I already had 2 bottles of Uigedall. Given how good it is I won't be complaining about having 3 bottles in reserve.

6 bottles of HIbiki 12 yr. Prices on these jumped considerably since last year.

....because I'm DAM TIRED OF SEARCHING FOR IT since February of this year. Bought seven out of 10 bottles remaining from two stores of the BevMo chain from Temecula to Valencia. Left 3 for other people to buy- allowed a relative to buy my 7th bottle.

Having experienced the Japanese whiskey price hyperinflation mentioned above, stocking up the ***** FTB's at every opportunity before the prices shoot up for these..

I've pretty much stopped buying any Japanese juice - the pricing is ridiculous. NAS blended whiskey for $60 - not from me.

Notable exception is the above mentioned from the barrel - for now.

Stumbled upon a bottle of Yoichi 15 at a small shop in Marin County...was priced at $125. Expensive for a 15 year old, but bought it anyway. They also had Yamazaki 12 for $85.99 and Yamazaki 18 for $240. Passed on those.

The last Yamazaki 18 I bought was for $99 at KL Wines in SFO. Needless to say, that's a few years ago now.

I also have one of these in the queue waiting to be opened. Did you open one of yours already?

These are for collecting - I'll try to get another bottle for drinking.
