My summer planned trip to Cuba was scuppered so I did the next best thing... a whisky buying trip/tour of Scotland! Had a great week with a mix of rain and glorious sunshine. Some great pick ups too -

Blanton's gold US release

Four Roses Small Batch 2015 Limited Edition, 1792 Port Finished, Smooth Ambler Old Scout 9 year Single Barrel, CS Rye and a dusty WT 15 year American Spirit.

I had a tasting of The Botanist recently. If you love Islay Single Malt whisky, then this is for you. I'd require another tasting or two to get used to it, as the Islay spring water used in this gin was very savoury, unlike most gins which are floral or herbal in nature due to the juniper berries used in distillation.

Don't mind The Botanist at all. And I froth on the Redbreast!

Bodes well, have a couple of bottles that I got for the wife a while back as she enjoys gin. They have been stashed away but she hardly ever drinks. Should reclaim them as mine then.

Just ordered Kilchoman Vintage 2008 (new vintage, love love love kilchoman). Ardbeg Uigedall, arguably the best scotch Ardbeg makes,Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban, Signatory 16 YO Glenlivet (46% and unchilled filtered).

Wish the glenlivet was cask strength but priced well enough to give it a try.

Big Kilchoman fan here as well but at $100 for the Vintage 2008 I had to draw the line - too pricey for me.

Some well aged independent bottlings of Ben Nevis and Teaninich. Also a bottle of Glendronach 18 Year Old that has been finished in port casks.

It's funny how we get the 15 yr version of the tawny port finish while GB and Oz get the 18. I feel cheated. ☺

I think the 18 Year Old Tawny is supposed to be the successor to the 15 Year Old edition. I am starting to see some of the 18 Year Old cask finish series filtering into the country.

The other day I picked up Lagavulin 12 yo the 2013 release, absolutely mouth watering stuff.

The Arran amarone cask finish, going to need more time with this one to "get it".

Tapatio Excelencia extra anejo Tequila, it's very nice but once again, need to spend time with it.

Wow, none at all! Not even Lagavulin 16?

The 12yo 2013 edition, John.

It's a limited yearly release, and usually sells out within the year, or appreciates in value allowing for vintage. Definitely worth a go if you see it around for about $140 to $160 aud.
