A few recent acquisitions 1980s bottlings of Glenfiddich 15 and 18. 1980s bottling of Macallan 12 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My summer planned trip to Cuba was scuppered so I did the next best thing... a whisky buying trip/tour of Scotland! Had a great week with a mix of rain and glorious sunshine. Some great pick ups too -

Blanton's gold US release

That's a very nice find. Looks to be a bit of a collector that one.

A collector would ***** that the box is all beat up. I wish there were more bottles available.

Anyone have an opinion on Bowmore Dawn, Dusk and Darkest?

I had either the Dusk or the Darkest more than 10 years ago, can't remember for sure which one it was as it has been that long ago. It was a lot cheaper then too.

Monkey new favorite blended malt......not bad at all...3rd bottle in a year.attachicon.gifimage.jpg

Anybody here buys whisky online? If yes where ? I can't find any deals .

My go -to daily spirit of choice.

I know this may sound maverick to some, but I love it in my sazerac ( in a glass washed with Herbsaint, with a splash of brown sugar simple syrup, dash of peychaud's bitters and a lemon twist).

I didn't think it was legal in Ontario to buy liquor online- most of the GB companies don't ship to Canada at all.

This must have been memorable, i've only had the DoubleWood 12 and Caibbean Cask 14. Too bad the SAQ does not carry the whole line.

It was quite nice indeed

Tasting notes:

15 single: citrus, grapefruit and turn to more caramel when alcohol has evaporated.

15 Sherry: wet leather, some smoke, wet fire, very different than double wood.

17peated: very complex, starts like ardbeg peat, long finish, salty and it was the furthest from my idea of Balvenie.

The do enjoy the Caribbean Cask as well, Cheers!

Indeed. Or Binnys.

Yeah K&L is a great store. Only hear great things about them and they have a great blog.

Recent pickups. Costco had great deals on a few bottles of bourbon if you bought 2. Makers Mark 46 was $22.99 a bottle and Bookers was $42.99. Oban 14 was $48.

Simon, I'm not a Balvenie fan, but the 15 yr Sherry Cask is great stuff. Have you compared the 17 yr peated to the 17 yr Islay cask?

Excellent endorsement on the 15 Year Old Sherry Cask.

I too am not a Balvenie fan finding their pricing a little more than what I would consider good value. I did hear good things about this one though sonInam looking forward to trying from the bottle I ventured to get.
