My summer planned trip to Cuba was scuppered so I did the next best thing... a whisky buying trip/tour of Scotland! Had a great week with a mix of rain and glorious sunshine. Some great pick ups too -

A bit of a curio that I managed to find recently - a Single Cask bottling of Glenfarclas that was distilled in 1985 and bottled in 2005 for the Earls of Zetland Malt Tasting Club which is apparent based in Adelaide, South Australia.

This is a commemorative bottling to celebrate their 20th anniversary.

It looks to be a cask strength 19 year old malt from cask no. 2825 which I suspect must have been a first-fill sherry cask.

Limited to only 323 bottles, I have no idea how it came to be available in a suburban bottle shop in Melbourne, Victoria.

The ullage is quite healthy though. An interesting find.

My first Bruichladdich after the ownership change, a rare French Single Malt aged in Cognac barrels, and another independent Bowmore.

Not wine or liquor... but I recently acquired a whole case of 3-floyds Zombie Dust! :-)

I was gifted the Corryvreckan from a great BOTL at a gathering I hosted and it's a powerhouse of flavour, the Octomore I drank a third of my bottle at the first sitting, but that one won't be for everyone. I just grabbed the Laddie Black Art v3, and will try it out this weekend.

The Black Art is some very interesting stuff. I'm a fan, but it is very different from most Bruichladdich.

Dee....I'm very jealous. After going to the remy distillery and not coming away with any top shelf items I'm sad. Though I just received 2 bottles on Remy V from the USA... only sold there....not true Cognac, but clear eu de vie with fresh fruity flavours. One to drink and one to keep (unless I can replace it)

A friend recommended this rum to me, and I really like it as a sipping rum.

It has a great coffee like flavour and not too sweet.

After being virtually sold out everywhere else in the world, it's finally released here in AUS.

Something else that got released in AUS, the first of our very own Melburnian special edition whisky. From the makers of Starward Whisky we have the New World Projects Single Cask Release #1.
