Nevrknow
Found allocated heaven in Atlanta. Stagg starts a tad hot then mellows out. Heard to open it and let it sit a few weeks and it will calm down. We'll see. Found a honey hole with a couple bottles left. May go back for more.

Fuzz
Spoils from a recent yearly trip to Hunter Valley with a few of the Sydney FOH Crew. You may notice one bottle is already open...started drinking the Keith Tulloch Per Diem Recolo Rose on the night I returned. Was too good to not have with dinner. I know Ken will be critical of my choices but....

Though, I also bought a bunch of HV sparkles back on a trip in April, especially some sparkling reds.

You are so right. Actually, it was the recent 'permission to splurge' thread that El Pres initiated which prompted me to seek to acquire it, as I had wanted to do so for some time. It turns out that the local Wine, Beers and Spirits chain 'Dan Murphy's' had a members' special on the Tatttinger Comtes de Champagne that same day. So, I bought the bottle on-line for $AU330 (currently $US222). As soon as I did, the price reverted back to normal, which is $AU450 (currently $US303). I am grateful, and furthermore, my wife was 'au fait' with the purchase because we plan to open it on my son's wedding day down-the-track.

Cherish that bottle! BC, way beyond inflation but that said, almost negligible compared to wines like Burgundy. i suspect we'll see many Italians follow. not so long ago, we thought champagne and vintage port were the two great bargains in the wine world. both have gone up considerably - in fairness, both deserved to go up. champagne is only heading to where it should be. that said, still great buying in comparison with most styles. if you compare the top champagnes with the best of Bordeaux or burgundy or Barolo et al, it is brilliant value. looked at the laurent-perrier grand siècle No 26 last week. this is a truly exquisite wine. stunning stuff. about A$450 to $480 which is serious money for fizz but won't even get you a grand cru burg. if this was a burg or Bordeaux, it would be three or four or perhaps even ten times that.

Burgundy is not even a consideration for me. Well aged Oregon pinots are my replacements. 30 year bottles are holding up well. Auction world is hasn't caught on just yet. I am hoping to win some Yquem at auction, but nothing convincing has popped up yet. Sauternes market is still lagging. Some time left to get bargain blue chips. I'll happy to see the market turn in its favor. Good sign of the state of wine drinking if that happens. I see good deals in Italian white wines. No one chases them much. Not sure why. I was in for sticker shock a couple of weeks ago at Costco. Friggin' Veuve is now $70! That used to be an afterthought like a gift for someone you don't know. I am not giving strangers $70 bottles of wine...Dom Perignon is $240+ for the newest vintage?
Popular Post Connoisseur Kim
Few weeks ago, I got a Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old Cask Strength: 2023 Edition as a gift from my sister during her trip to UK. I never had any offerings from Bunnahabhain, but I heard Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old Cask Strength is one of the tastiest cask strength whiskies. Hopefully, it will be tasty as other drams I had. I wish I also have a Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old Cask Strength: 2022 Edition for comparison, as it seems to be the best batch of this cask strength whisky.

I have a Bunna 12 yr CS sherry cask single barrel that is phenomenal. Lots of nice campfire smokiness to the nose and palate. I'm on the hunt for another now. Recent additions include some older, dusty stuff like 1990 Yellow Rose of Texas 15/101 and a 1969 Cabin Still decanter of 6 yrs old, 90prf Stitzel Weller.

I only had Springbank 12 CS Batch 25 for CS, but I really liked its sherry and smoky character. Hope that my Bunna 12 CS will deliever the same great experience as Springbank 12 CS Batch 25.
