My summer planned trip to Cuba was scuppered so I did the next best thing... a whisky buying trip/tour of Scotland! Had a great week with a mix of rain and glorious sunshine. Some great pick ups too -

My first Foursquare Rum...exceeded my expectations even given the hype it receives. Same complexity as top-shelf aged bourbon. Unbelievable stuff. I only wish the Cubans could make rum of this caliber.

picked up one of these a month or two ago. agree - very impressive.

but i would argue that the cubans can make some sensational rums.

I thought it was very good to be honest, particularly considering the price point. Big vanilla flavour up front for me with a decent finish.

I haven’t drank much bourbon previously but I think it was a good introduction. It lacked the complexity of a lot of scotches that I drink but it was very enjoyable and something I would reach for again

I'd spend the coin on Eagle Rare 10 or Henry McKenna 10. Here in the states they don't cost much more than Buffalo Trace.

That's some good stuff right there, had a couple bottles of it and was greatly impressed. I'm not even a big white wine guy, but this one seems to always impress me...

Oak Cross Whiskey is great. I've drunk about 2-3 bottles over the past 2 years. Great stuff.

Please let us know. They are on my list to try, but hard to find in the states, and quite costly.

I got them from Australia where they are still relatively pricey. The SFTB was $150 and the Gold $110. Just had a small sample of the Gold last night ( couldnt help myself) and it was very enjoyable. The 64% alc in the SFTB has me a little concerned

Yep...sourced mine from Dan Murphys. The Special Reserve is dissapointing imo. Better bourbons to be had for that price.

The recent discontinuation of Aged Japanese Whisky in the last few years saw me pick this up recently. It was a pleasant surprise to get the last bottle of this Hakushu 12 bottle for half price (or at its old price, as it's doubled in value since announced as discontinued this year).

I picked one of those up last time I was in Tokyo. Only had it a few times but it has been great.
