My summer planned trip to Cuba was scuppered so I did the next best thing... a whisky buying trip/tour of Scotland! Had a great week with a mix of rain and glorious sunshine. Some great pick ups too -

Blanton's gold US release

Picked up this today, nice 1.75L Knob Creek Straight Rye Whiskey. Will open tonight.

Dang I didn't know the rye came in a 1.75L! I found some knob Creek cask strength rye that's phenomenal.

I'm finding more of the regular production stuff are being offered in 1.75L formats. Here is what I saw at the liquor store today in 1.75L.

Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskeys:

1792

Bulleit

Bulleit Rye

Elijah Craig Small Batch

Four Roses

Knob Creek

Knob Creek Straight Rye Whiskey

Old Forester

Larceny

Maker's Mark

WL Weller Special Reserve

Willet Pot Still Reserve

Woodford Reserve

Pretty good selection of 1.75Ls which offer the best bang for your buck in price per milliliter.

How is it? My store has that and the limited 2 x 2 bottle. Couldn't justify spending 50 on it without knowing.

Very smooth yet thicker than the regular BH, sweet finish on the palate. I bought it to try since I had some BH a couple weeks back. I enjoyed it with a couple rocks.

My local Costco (San Jose) started carrying Kilchoman Machir Bay and had it on sale for $43.99 - I had to get a few bottles (no pics, unfortunately).
