Lotusguy
Thanks to Lotusguy for mentioning that one of better local suppliers had the Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz available. Also picked up a couple bottles of the Four Pillars / K&L collaboration (notes), and an old standby tawny.I also just got that KL exclusive and a bottle of the barrel aged Gin.
Philc2001
I think I just found another scotch to add to my regular rotationI love this 10 year Benromach, just a touch of peat, sherry finish, fantastic! earthson
Johnny Drum Pvt Stock. I hesitate to even mention it because it is damned good, appears to be somewhat limited release and drinks several shelves above its price. I think I'm falling madly in love with Willett stillin's. Also a bottle of ole trusty Weller Special Reserve. Not my favorite Weller by any means, but Old Antique and the 12 Yr have disappeared from store shelves for the last few years and I never see any. Fortunately, I do know this little shop that always has the Special Reserve as they cater more to the Kessler crowd (middle of nowhere on a small county highway)

Islandboy
Tried the Koho version last week (barrel aged, not cask strength), it was very, very good...one of the best pairings with a cigar I’ve had. Happy that I got my hands on a bottle of the top tier cask strength Koa. Definitely a once-in-a-blue-moon item at the price ($75 for a SMALL bottle, at the distillery on Oahu)
sengjc
Another spring weekend and another wine tasting, this time being the annual Penfolds release.Got a couple of bottles of the 2015 Penfolds Bin 389 for keeping - appears to be the most impressive release of the lot.

Got a couple of bottles of the 2015 Penfolds Bin 389 for keeping - appears to be the most impressive release of the lot. we did the annual release about a month ago. won't post full notes (they are going in UK World of Fine Wine) but a few thoughts on some of the wines and, for what they are worth, scores. nice to try the G3. doubt i'll ever see it again. but i really do prefer the Grange. some loved Magill but it was a huge wine this time. and i struggle with 407 every year. same price as 389? spare me. i think 389 is ten times the wine (so glad you got it and not the 407). 2017 Bin 51 Eden Valley Riesling. 92. 2016 Reserve Bin A Chardonnay 95. 2016 Bin 23 Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir 94. 2015 Bin 138 Barossa Valley Shiraz Grenache Mataro. 93. i reckon that this is always one of the great bargains and always terrific drinking. 2015 Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz Should age well for decades. At this juncture, there is some evidence of early complexity, but what it does offer is the potential for endless, delicious drinking. 95. 2014 St Henri Shiraz The anti-Grange. The best St Henri since 2010. 97. 2015 RWT Barossa Valley Shiraz For those that prefer power and heft, go with the Magill, but if grace and refinement is your thing, this is your wine. 96. 2013 Grange hard to recall a young Grange so exquisitely balanced at this stage of its development. It is more refined than the 2012 and there will be plenty who prefer this wine, myself included, despite the older sibling’s revered status. A wine that will drink superbly for decades. 99. The “Surprise” – G3. A unicorn wine, if ever there was one. A total of only 1,200 bottles have been made, for the entire world, and it may be the best part of a decade before Penfold's release the next one (yes, there are others in the system). And, even if you manage to find one, the cost is A$3,000/bottle. whether it will be a wine enjoyed over time, or it simply becomes a commodity, time will tell. Hopefully the former. 93.

sengjc
we did the annual release about a month ago...Yes, I am quite impressed with the RWT too and actually preferring the 2015 RWT over the 2014 St. Henri.I notice that they are increasingly expensive upon release. Will look out for some 2015 RWT on the secondary market.
