Tan1801
The Cellarbrations in Newmarket opposite the Chilli Padi Mamak near Laksa King. Ahhh right... I live practically around the corner from them and didn't realise they stocked anything of note. I shall keep my eyes peeled.
sengjc
Ahhh right... I live practically around the corner from them and didn't realise they stocked anything of note. I shall keep my eyes peeled. They have some good wine, Leeuwin Estate the Art Series Chardonnay from 2000 going for current vintage prices. Also the Seppelts Show Brandy which is quite interesting - I don't think they bottle this anymore.

sengjc
A couple of the more interesting ones from the recent acquisitions: Another MacKillop's Choice bottling, this one is a 28-29 year old Highland Park from 1981, bottle no. 63 from cask 6850. @Upmann2008 PS. Now you can see what you will be getting too. Also this monstrous 1.5 litre magnum bottle of Compass Box the Peat Monster Reserve Edition.

sengjc
One of the recent acquisitions, a trio of Campbelltown malts in 200ml bottles: My first foray into Springbank and its various incarnations. Now, I wasn't intending to post about this acquisition but I am thoroughly impressed with the balance and array of complexity these malts offer that I have to make an exception. Certainly a unique malt that will certainly impress even the most jaded of palates. The standout for me is the Springbank 10 Year Old but I love the liqueur-like sweetness of the Hazelburn and the balanced peatiness of the Longrow too. PS: Like the makeshift drip collars? Tempted to also pick up Glenlivet Nadurra 03/13 edition which is £38 (c.£8 off at Tesco but I have a voucher bringing it down to £35 ). Got to love supermarket deals. sengjc
Some new acquisitions from the local bottle-o today: As you can see, I am quite smitten by the Springbank - Longrow - Hazelburn malts. Then there are a few more orders placed from the overseas sites that have not arrived yet. In truth, I have never really had much of a thought for this distillery nor Campbelltown malts before, time to make up for lost time.

canadianbeaver
Not a true acquisition but an interesting fact here in Ontario. We want to buy plain grain alcohol to make liqueurs we had in Italy. One was fennel, the other, with bay leaves. Matthew goes to the liquor store and they tell him, "We will only provide grain alcohol (Alcool) to a pharmacist to fill Rx's." The young guy at the counter however says his grandmother makes her own hooch by running vodka through a Brita filter three times. Prego!
