jedipastor Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I think the term "closed-minded" is a poor choice for this topic anyway. We're not talking philosophy here, we're talking about frickin' cigars. Taste in cigars is, by it's very definition, a matter of taste. If I want to smoke a $4 fresh Nicaraguan instead of a $16 fresh Cohiba that doesn't make me closed-minded ... cheap perhaps, or perhaps I'm filthy rich and simply don't like fresh Cohibas. Cigars are all subjective, and that's why there are so many of them. And this fact is one reason why I don't like the HSA hype-machine. They have billed the Behike as their ultimate regular-production cigar. But it's THEM saying that and correspondingly charging the same as 3 very good cigars for each of these. What I fail to understand is why people just accept what HSA says (I'm in no way commenting on the Behike cigars here, just on the marketing). For example, HSA said that the Epicure Especial was the ultimate incarnation of the HdM line. But just because they said it doesn't make it so, it's just an excuse to charge more for that cigar (I happen to like the EE, but I think HSAs claims are silly).

And I'll wager you're a monotheist to boot!!! Well that is pretty effin' closed minded!!!! -LOL (Since we don't know each other, please understand I am being silly here! One monotheist to another, presumably!) -Piggy
Ginseng Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 What I fail to understand is why people just accept what HSA say I think part of it has to do with the fact that people innately want to trust. People inherently want to believe the good and the better so they can acquire what they reckon to be the "best." It's psychology. It's marketing. It's marketing psychology. Believe me, this is not the scary stuff. Manipulation of the mind, I mean. It's manipulation of the heart. linkie. Wilkey
