El Presidente Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 How is the NFL shaping up for this year? I will have to get the FOH NFL comp up and running in the next week. Let us know how things are shaping up for your team. Predictions this time of year are always good to look back on post season
Colt45 Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 How is the NFL shaping up for this year? Awesome - never looked better....
El Presidente Posted July 26, 2011 Author Posted July 26, 2011 Unless I am mistaken, the salary cap is 120 million and a team has to spend it. My Bucs have been well under this amount and it will mean cash to upgrade contracts and strengthen some areas. Looking good
riazp Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Bucs have a great young team and look good in the future, a couple of vets will defeniltly help them for playoff push this year. Seahawks need to get better on defense, and younger at qb....Jets (yes I support two teams! long story lol) are solid on defense and qb, need to sort out their wide receivers.
kgoings Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I love football! Woot! Cardinals need to get a QB, but you can't get much worse than Derrick Anderson. UGH! The running game needs to pick it up a little. Help is needed at OL and LB. Besides that Arizona has a pretty good team. I too root for two teams. My home town Cardinals...and a team I have rooted for since a kid... Detroit needs help at LB, needs to work on the running game, and needs to keep the QB healthy...I pity the poor QB's that play the Lions this year...Suh and Farley...Oh my! Both Arizona and Detroit make the playoffs this year! Suh scores a TD, 10 sacks, and kicks a Field Goal.
brutusthebuckeye Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Go Brownies!!! Another coaching change.....they ll blow money on some washed up guys and go 4-12....
tmac77 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Will have to wait and see what the free agency week has in store. It will be a fast and furious spending spree for those teams under the Salary cap. My team, the mighty Redskins, will be spending freely as usual.
cementhead339 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Finally settled the lock out. never a doubt they would, to much money to be lost with no season. As for my Eagles, There offense should be fine as long as Vick stays healthy, now on the defensive side they could use a defensive back, linebacker, and a defensive end, and maybe a big interior guy to help against the rush, thats all, lol. Im sure when they trade Kolb that will fill one of there needs. but for the rest, the next couple weeks will tell. I still pick them to win the superbowl, maybe im just a homer, lol. Were use to seeing good hard hitting defenses around here, last couple years this defense has been hard to watch, and i dont see it changing to much unless they make some big moves this off season. Oh did i mention they have there offensive coach from last year running the defense this year, this should be interesting.
bacalao Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I will continue to pray that my Dolphins don't give me a heart attack watching them this season. Needs? EVERYTHING, from QB to some new legs at RB. If we can sweep either the hated Jets or Patriots it would be a successful season in my eyes. If that happens I'll definitely splurge for a box of Behikes. If they win a playoff game I'll have my wife send you guys my obituary and cigars cause I'll definitely die after so many years of disappointment. Jose
BobKincaid Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 A huge, national sigh of relief at the fact there will BE a season. DeMaruice Smith of the NFLPA deserves tremendous credit for out-flanking the owners' lock-out. There was some tremendous legal work done in that regard. Me, as a Steelers fan in the AFC, I've little to complain about. Ben Roethlisberger got married, so one may hope he's settling down. In Green Bay, my NFC fave, things look respectable, though the repeat is always an albatross on one's shoulder.
jlacava Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 My Packers are looking to repeat as super bowl champions!... I had my first Cohiba Maduro 5 Genios to celebrate the win last year.... wow what a night! Tremendous!
Habano Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Fade the Bengals the entire season. More than likely will be starting a rookie quarterback and throwing to a rookie wide receiver. Ton of questions at the running back and the defense has holes bigger than the grand canyon.
Wicky Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Go Brownies!!! Another coaching change.....they ll blow money on some washed up guys and go 4-12.... tsk tsk. Ever the pessimist. Here we go 6 and 10...Here we go! Packers should repeat. Rodgers spells money.
pedrodepacas Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I too have two teams I root for. As for the 49ers, if we only had a QB and for the Chargers, if we could only win in the postseason. All I pray for is that we don't lose to the Raiders
aes8 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 The Steelers will make yet ANOTHOR SB appearance and bring home #7. I wonder how soon before we start using scientific notation to record the number of Lombardi Trophies
Colt45 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Unless I am mistaken, the salary cap is 120 million and a team has to spend it. Not exactly - there is a cap, but now there is a salary floor which all teams must spend up to. As Cementhead and BobK mentiioned, the lockout has just ended, and some parts of what goes on during the year before the season starts will now be compacted - rookie signings and camps, off season workouts and evaluations, etc, etc.
CigarAsh Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 A lifelong Chiefs fan here. I'm tremendously excited by the definite possibility the Chiefs will once again leave me disappointed, disenchanted, disgruntled and ultimately disgusted by their inability to win a playoff football game. It's been 18 years ('93 with Joe Montana and Marcus Allen) since the last time we won a playoff game. At least they finally MADE it to the playoffs last year, only to be exposed as having little or no offense to speak of. But hey, they have $120 million of our money to play with this year. I guess anything is possible!
benjaminbbush Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Go Christian Ponder and the Vikes! Sorry I am a Florida State University fan first and foremost. It will be interesting to see how Ponder adapts to his adjustment period. 50/50 he could be great/not servicable at the pro level. (as opposed to Jamarcus Russell who was 1/99 great/not servicable AT BEST--and he proved that to be the case).
thechenman Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I'm thinking Belichick/Brady and the Pats take it all this season.
Puros Y Vino Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I predict that the Superbowl will be overhyped, end in a score indicative of a baseball game and will pretty much be forgotten due to the drunkeness of its' audience.

I always liked Ponder and was hoping that the Redskins would have had him higher on their board on draft day. Probably the most NFL ready rookie QB out there.

And when it's over, people will riot in the streets, burning the city, loot stores, attack police. Ooops, my bad - Vancouver doesn't have an NFL team..........

My thoughts/predictions... 1) I can't imagine all this hype over Kolb for Rodgers-Crom for it not to come true. It think both teams win. 2) Most don't know this, but Jim Washburn coached Albert Haynesworth when they were both with the Titans. The rumor mill states Washburn says he can work with Haynesworth. If that's the case, and the cost is somewhat cheap, i'd sign him all day long. 3) Plaxico is probably fielding offers from teams, finding the best one, then taking it to the Eagles. I think the Eagles make at least 2 of these 3 moves.
