kgoings Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I havent had tons of experience with Monte's, I had a box of 01 Esp#1 and they were great, I have had a couple #1's and they were very good but not enough of a sampling to determine if they had high consistency. #2's and #4's are all over the place. So in your opinion what is the most consistent Monte.
shrink Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 It's the Especial. Even the '99s and '01s have been spot on. More recent vintages, including the 2005s and 2006s, have been incredible.
shrink Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Both the #1 and #2?? I'm referring to the Esp No. 1. I've smoked from boxes of 2005 and 2008 Esp No. 2s, and thye're quite good, too.
Cohiba007 Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I love the PE. Gone through 3 boxes the past few months and all were consistently good.
Onsto Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I believe the #3 to be the most consistently poor performing Monte. Cant remember having a good one and its normally a size I like! I love a good Monte #2 and have been pretty lucky overall though I know many have had worse luck...
thechenman Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 I don't believe there is such a thing as a consistent Montecristo cigar...unless you mean consistently bad. If the latter, I would nominate the entire Montecristo Open line.
riazp Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 I must say, I agree about the petit edmundos, they have been consistent in flavor and construction. its a good smoke, especially when short on time.
peanutpete Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 the PE for me to, every one i have had has been great
El Presidente Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 I'm referring to the Esp No. 1. I've smoked from boxes of 2005 and 2008 Esp No. 2s, and thye're quite good, too. Agreed, the Especial No 1 is the Monte benchmark.
