Colt45 Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 These are just some brief notes - I was able to smoke this a few days ago, before the heavy heat and humidity kicked in. Maduro wrapper, rather leathery to the touch but with a decent sheen of oil. Overall construction was very good - draw a bit firm, though to be fair, it was pretty warm with humidity rising, and smoke volume was very good as well. Technicalities aside, and getting down to taste......... Shrink was right when he told me, some years back, that these usually take time to come around. The first from this box, sampled in '07 was very good. Successive samples showed what he had warned me of - a rather sharp, tannic, somewhat untamed cigar. This most recent sample really shined. Overall, cooked down light fruits (peaches, yellow raisins, etc), unsweetened cooking chocolate overtones, a little bit of white pepper, along with, of course, great tobacco. My laments - that i smoked as many from this box as I have (learning process), and that they are no longer in production.......
greenpimp Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I agree, one of my all-time favorites with age. I love my '05s, and still have a few '03s that continue to knock me on my butt with power and rich flavor. A shame they're gone.
tmac77 Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Like so many other great Punch cigars... gone. Although from what I hear the 2010 Punch Punch seems to be making a comeback.
mazolaman Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I still have two of these lovelys.....that I am frightened to smoke, cos when they're gone, they're gone! A really nice mid strength cigar....as you said, with a great fruity flavour. Now deceased.....bloody idiots.
CUBANO Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Have 15 left from a box dated 1998. Its a great cigar with Fruit, nutty, and Floral taste.
rckymtn22 Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I loaded up in the last while from LFTH with 4 boxes so off to long term storage for all of them!
